So if apartheid was every white person's responsibility the killing of a white farmer by a black person is every black person's responsiblity. Or am I missing the point here? Not all people voted for the National Party. Some people actually tried their utmost to get them out of power. How quickly do we forget ...

Where the majority works for the minority, its called apartheid, when the minority works for the majority its called democracy. Democracy only favours the majority, its is a faulty system that does not give everyone equal rights, some are just a little bit more equal then others.

People that like to bring up these little articles of hope (and you knwo who you are, you basically joined this forum to vomit political ideologies), should actually read some of the articles that Mbeki's brother wrote. That is a man I have the world of respect for, he should have become president.

In one of his articles he actually stated that black people should not always just hate white people because they are white, most of the development in africa today, most of the infrastructures were build by white people.

But ja I'll probably be knocked off as a racist, that lives in the past, dont really know why I read these threads, they just ruin my already crappy day

Hope the links are still active, but why I admire him, he is thinking logically, and thinking of a whole nation in its growth phase, not just with his emotions and with satisfying he's own needs. Being the president's brother, he would have a cushy life, yet still he wants this country to succeed, and knows that people should stop living in the past and move on.

I am seriously getting fed up with being blamed for all the wrongs in south africa. If black people and the ANC wants me out of here, drop me a mail, I'll gladly move on and move out, and I'll leave everything just as is, people can come and live in my house, take my car, hell I'll even speak to my boss and ask him to give my job to the first previously disadvantaged person that wants it.

I'm sick and tired of working my lilly white @ss off, paying a frustrating high amount of tax (most of which is suppose to right the wrongs of yesterday), drive home in the evenings for an hour and a half, going home to my wife, after doing my little bit to help this country to become an economic powerhouse and step out of a 3rd world country legacy. Only to be blamed for everything because I am white. I'd rather go to a country where people work for a common goal and is not held back by a government, who is struggling and slowely failing, and would rather call thee section of the country rascists because they are either to proud to ask for some help or some advice from those that have had experience.

Just think what a huge step we will take, when this government, turns to the people they now call "the reason for all ills in this country", and ask them:"Listen, help us, teach us how to make government more effective, how to run a more optimum infrastructure, how to manage our local government better". White people will feel that they are actually contributing to this country, and black people will run this country a well oiled machine, and proving the west wrong in their assumptions that all african governments fail.

But no.....rather blame, it brings in more votes
 
This will be my last posting on this issue, as I am now tired of being labelled a right-winger, racist and whatever else, particularly by mook.

I will continue to attack this government with all the might and will that I feel is needed, and that I can in anyway muster. I will tell as many people as I can of where I see the government not providing - to all its citizens. I will continue lobbying activists to assist me in my endeavour to make South Africa a better place. But I will fail. Why? Because I am white.

For the rest of my Life in South Africa I will calmly accept my disposition as a White South African, knowing that there is virtually nothing I can do to "fit-in" to the grand Illusion of "The Rainbow Nation". I will accept that even though I had nothing to do with Apartheid, I will be treated as if I was the instigator of the whole mess, because I am white and that is the noble thing to do. I will continue working my 9-5 job for my pathetic salary as long as I am able, knowing that it is just a matter of time before I too am retrenched because of my skin colour. But I understand that this is nothing personal, I mean, that would imply the government discriminates based on race then won't it?

I will try every few years to upgrade my life and wonder why is my house being broken into, why was I hijacked a year ago, why must I lock myself in a prison, why can't we go out partying at night, why is my alarm company phoning me twice a week. Every night I fall asleep wondering what that sound was. Everyday I lock myself in - into my house, into my car, into my office. Every day I live in absolute fear that my soon-to-be wife will be raped, murdered or assaulted.
No man should ever have to live with these thoughts.

If you are happy with this country as it is today, then good luck not turning into the next Zimbabwe.
 
Excellent post King. Yes unfortunately it is true what you have said but one must realise : Nothing lasts forever. Who would have thought in 1970's or early 80's that today we would have a black pres. ? Probably not many thought it would be a reality. Same will happen in the future, anc wont be in power forever, some day please god, SA will be ruled by honourable people who have the best intentions at heart. Maybe a bit of a dream but thats what keeps us going in the end.

I certainly hoped and prayed (and agitated) for a black Prez. I voted for a black Prez. But I did not vote for the fiasco we have today - and now - there is no way back. Me cries some more. And yes - one of the greatest pleasures of being in a "free" country - is that most are equal - irrespective of size, colour, disposition. Work hard - but know everybody is doing the same for a common cause - surviving in the real world - not this Gravy Train for the few speeding to nowhere.

This board is overly censored, it's a goddamn internet forum fgs, not an official political tribunal. I know we're trying to put on a good face and try to act mature so that our thoughts on the communication industry are taken seriously, but if there's going to be an off topic board, perhaps it should be more seperated and distinguished from the MyADSL brand so that we can actually be ourselves without having to second guess everything we say for the sake of taken seriously in other matters.

Anyone 'get' me?

All I'm saying is that one website brand - whatever, can't be 2 things.

i.e. 1. A communications discussion forum / news source
2. A heated political debate forum

Now, at the moment the political discussions is kinda overtaking the communications aspect, from my view anyway. Now because of this, and the tendency of some of these threads to get kinda nasty, I think it will detract from the serious communications discussion part of this website, my main reason being that new people who come here will have their opinion of myADSL affected by the kind of political views held by the majority of the community members?

Does anyone else agree with me? If we start dividing the myADSL community politically it won't be good for the communications based MyADSL side of things, it'll be a huge detraction and a way for Telkom to possibly discredit us.... Somehow. It's unlikely, but... Hell, I don't know.

I'm not sure if there's a way to deal with this, I'm just saying what's on my mind.
 
Dude - if there was something happening in telecommunications we would be there - not here! But we commenting on news of the moment - and no telkom news (but imminent!!!)
