Well if this does replace the Spark there might be some hope for that.

Had one as a rental for a week...****test car ever.

My 14 years old Corsa outshines it in every department other than fancy dashboard displays and bluetooth.
 
GM's European arms Opel and Vauxhall have released the first photos of their otherwise identical Karl and Viva city cars.

The two models will make their world premiere at the 2015 Geneva show in March and go on sale shortly after.

Opel's version is named after one of the company founder's sons, while the UK version revives Vauxhall's Viva name for the first time since the original ended production in 1979.

North America and possibly other markets as well, will get GM's new city car in the form of the next generation Chevrolet Spark with a modified appearance.

The Karl and Viva are positioned at the bottom of Opel and Vauxhall's passenger car range, below the Adam, and are expected to start under €10,000 in Europe or about £7,500 in the UK, which would position them against the Fiat Panda, Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10 and VW Up!.

GM's new mini is 3,680mm (144.9 in) long, making it slightly shorter than the Adam (3,700mm) and a lot smaller than the new Corsa (4,000mm), though the automaker claims that it offers enough room for five passengers.

It's expected to weigh about 900 kg (1,984 lbs) with power coming exclusively from a newly developed 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine delivering 75PS (74hp).

February 2015, but GMSA is push Chev as their main brand these days. Opel is aImost exclusively sold in Europe now, even Aus has dropped it. I wouldn't be surprised if our Isuzu KBs are rebranded as Chevrolet Colorados soon.
 
In simple terms GM works like this; it has a global brand which is Chevrolet and then it has regional brands, [-]like Holden down under[/-], Vauxhall in the UK, Opel in mainland Europe and Deawoo in Korea - all the regional brands are sold along side the global brand. Obviously some are just redabged products but in the case of Opel for example it does have competing products, same goes for Isuzu.

Ten years ago GMSA tried to align us with the global brand which is Chevrolet. This meant Opel products would be phased out and they assumed people with GM products would simply opt for other GM products. It did not work out that well and most people that had Opel bought another brand instead of Chevrolet.

Currently GMSA is trying to position Opel as their premium brand, that is why we can have the more upmarket Adam but not the Spark/Picanto rivalling Karl. For GMSA to bring in an Opel product it needs to fit their premium product bracket. This is also why most late model Opels all have VIN numbers starting with W0, they are imported from Germany and not built locally.
