The obstacles when bringing tech brands to SA

The geographic, logistical, and economic challenges of shipping hardware to sell in South Africa place the country's tech enthusiasts in an interesting position.

Many of of these challenges can be and are regularly overcome to deliver the latest hardware to customers in line with international releases, while at other times South African consumers must wait a few months before the hardware arrives.

The challenges are real to bring good here, but then do not rape the people you want to buy from you.

I bought a pair of headphones in Japan, shipped them here, paid customs and excise, for 18% of the price the local agency for the product quoted me. That is bad, really bad. And this is typical in most off the beaten path products in this country. When you bring something in to sell, you are not doing anybody a massive favour by doing so, and do not forget DHL, is probably more reliable than most in this country.
