The Official EPL 2011/12 Thread

Manchester International deserve to win the league. Man United were poor this season. They played crap and I honestly don't know how they were on top. It doesn't say much for the quality of the premier league.

Got to disagree with your last bit. For me Football is about entertainment and I was thoroughly entertained by the premier league this season. Some spectacular goals, classic matches.

Going to the last Sunday, look all the games that will still have a impact for various teams. Liverpool vs Swanea would probably be the only game were there won't be something massive at stake for a least one of the teams playing.

Utd have done fairly well considering Fergie hasn't broken the bank to bring in any major players.

Not so sure about the strength of the EPL, when Utd who have clearly not been at the best this season, are are still joint leaders.

Fergie has done an admirable job with a team that has had a few standout consistent performers this season.

/ Refs and diving helped their cause alot.

Thats why i said that united fans must enjoy the ride while fergy is still there. new guy coming will have his work cut out for him. its gonna be some time before united dominate britain again. i see city dominating for the next few seasons before liverpool and chelsea getting closer. people like dbecks cannot stand united's dominance coming to an end. dude, the end is naai

Supporters like you really are naaring - Shame, maybe your team will win the league when you alive.....oh no wait....they wont.....oh wait they will coz you support City now..

My team has won the league in my lifetime. A few times. :D
And I am not a fence sitter.
Do you really think united deserve to still have a chance to win the league?

What sucks the most is that both teams will have the same points but one will win it because they scored more goals. So unfair. A win is a win, whether it's 1-0 or 4-0.

Well that's a good way to tell teams that how you win is also as important as the win itself. Besides, what else should they use? Head-to-head? 6-1 & 1-0....City still wins :D

There's a critical flaw in your theory, because all it takes is for the one team to score more goals in one match against another team and that will give them the title.

How would you prefer it's decided? Because you'd still lose on head to head.

So what are you saying, that over a course of season if two or more teams end with the same points, then the one with the best ratio of Goals For and Goals Against do not deserve to be the winners? Is that not the basic foundation of a good team, i.e. score lots and concede few?

That's the rules of the competition and everybody knew it from the start. Goal difference is basically and extra point.

I'm saying one match is all it takes for one team to leap ahead ITO GF and GA. I know it's the rules and I accept it. I just have trouble with it at times. ATM, City GD = 8 > Man Utd.

Yeah it can be bitter if your team is the one losing out that way. Pretty much the worst was when Arsenal beat Liverpool in 1989 to take the title; with the final goal, in the final minute, of the final game of the league season no less!! It was even on points, even on GD and came down to GF....
