Whats everyones verdict on the Mi A1? Going to get one from gearbest soon

I know a person who did order it from GearBest before so I will ask them how their experience has been thus far. Don't know of many people who have had issues with Xiaomi due to such a big international development community. It does help in my mind.

I checked for coupons but do not see anything currently. I have seen it drop to below the current price. Not sure when it will go on special again though. Will post specials here as I find out.

Very happy with my Red Mi A1. Would buy it again, no doubt. Have a Rose Gold one on the way for my mom.

All in R3k to your door from Gearbest. Find me better value.

I came from a Redmi Note 3 which ended each working day with 40-50% battery left. The Mi A1 is only 5-10% lower than that. Standby draw is extremely low. I use WhatsApp Web from 7am to 4:30pm daily with the phone on WiFi and the phone will not drop battery while on my desk unused over several hours.

It's no Note 4 Snapdragon, but I have not yet missed a bigger battery.

I see, it's probably because of my over use of it.

I ordered the Mi a1 for myself. I got my mom the redmi 4x. 48 hours now and her battery is on 52% . Snapdragon ftw. My mediatek redmi note 4 battery lasts to the end of the day comfortably, but can only dream of that kind of battery life

Mediatek battery management is not as good unfortunately. Think it is due to the Kernel being closed source and thus Xiaomi not being able to optimize it like they would for the other processors. One of the biggest issue with Mediatek devices and also the reason why software updates are slow or non existent. Feel bad for the manufacturer as their hands are tied while Mediatek is crazy low in price and functions decently well.

And this is why I wont touch anything with a MTK processor and a battery. Snapdragon all the way!

Mediatek is much cheaper though. I have a Vernee Thor E which has a 5020mah battery that I used to use daily. Battery lasts 1 full days no matter what I do. Can watch Youtube for 8 hours and battery would still be alive. And that was a $130 phone. Really depends on budget and what the person wants. If one can afford a device with a Snapdragon, I would advise for it. Otherwise, a 4000mah+ battery on a MTK processor is not bad. And if it has Android 7.1+, then even better. Where the MTK processor might fall short, they might optimize in Software. Every device is very different. I have a Oukitel Mix 2 with a 4000mah battery that survives the whole day as well with no major issue. Yes, it should give me 1.5-2 days, but for the price, still good value for money.

Buying a phone is never as simple as doing watching a few reviews and making a decision. I would put it into a table, compare specs, pricing, etc, and then try make a decision. But I can sometimes over do it...

Guys, this Mi Max 2 itch won't Tsek, even though I am enjoying my Mi A1. Do I:

A) Suck it up and wait for Mi Max 3 which I am going to get anyways
B) Take a Gold 4/64 Mi Max 2 from Geekbuying to my feet for R3400 all in (Not so keen on gold and not so keen on the black screen borders on the white face on this colour version
C) Take a Black Mi Max 2 4/64 from Souq.com Dubai to my feet for R3600 all in

I'm really trying to stick with A, but eish man, the urge is strong!

Don't get the Mi Max 2 with gold and white face. The front looks *** with the black screen on a white face. The price is cheap enough, so if I were you, get a black Mi Max 2 4/64. I have one, and it is simply awesome.

After my experiences with my Black Mi Max 2, I will most definitely get the Mi Max 3 when it comes out in June.....but I will only get a stealth all-black one. If history repeats itself, like the Mi Max 2....then Xiaomi will bring out the white Mi Max 3 first, and then a black one 2 months later. I don't know why they don't push the stealth black one first - possibly because the Chinese and Indian markets like the flashy white and gold ?
