Not in SA and would be priced at 20+
I am not so sure it can be priced that high, but anyways, it surprises me that the past generations' value models did not make their ways into the SA market, would have thought that the older models like Poco F3; x4 gt would be quite well received here. Let's see if the Poco F5 will make its way onto the SA's shore.

16GB and 1tb phone, would be close to 20k, considering the Xiaomi 12 was close to 16 and the normal 12pro is now 12
Poco faded away :-(

I think that's because Mi 12 uses the 8G1 soc and it's camera and overall built material is better, longer MIUI support period. The redmi note 12 turbo and poco value model usually give you a flag ship killing soc, but cost save by giving you cheaper cameras etc, plasticky materials and 2 years android supports only.

Hmm I cannot access takealot outside SA, interesting lol...

Hopefully poco bring f5 in to re-ignite the brand. Too bad our local postal services is so bad, importing could have been cheaper...

Yeah but the Redmi Note 12 Pro is hitting 11 to 12k :-(

Will let you guys know how the chinese version miui is like, I know i can just enable google basic services and download play store without rooting. Just not sure how much much ads there are.

Maybe mybb can branch out and start doing some crowd import of phones from China to lower the individual unit price. :sneaky:

Sorry to hear that, you mind sharing what was so bad about the china version MIUI?
During my research, I was just made aware of the ads, bunch of pre-installed chinese software like jd, xiaomi wallets, xiaoai etc, and having to install the google's stuff myself, didn't really seem that much more different than the global version, so just wanna see what to expects when it arrives.

everything you mentioned .i found just let it update continually, dont disable anything and dont remove any factory app .the daily updates and ads are terrible but you get used to it ,installing google wasnt an issue but maps doesnt work properly ,it constantly wants you to go via Beijing ,i dont use maps much so not a biggie .the way the software works is also different ,you do get used to the glitches though ,ie cant turn off screen dimming for outside inside ,cant listen to a voice message while driving as the phone has to be horizontal and looking at your face .lots of funky themes that update daily (hope you like cats ) .EDIT dont try remove apps with ADB i think it is ,because then other things stop working like Whatsapp ,everything gets reinstalled later even if you do remove system apps they all come back .

Thanks! That google map routing everything via beijing is definitely a problem for me, hopefully I don't have all those funky quirks. Gonna try not to remove anything to see how it goes for a month, but if it gets bad, I will root the phone and install the global version of MIUI instead, but hopefully I don't need to get to that point haha.

Views on the Redmi Note 12 PRO 256GB version?

Vodacom has lost the plot
No more 24mth promo data, used to get an additional 10GBs

The consultant said it's due to the economy and COVID say whaaat

Now wondering if MTN would give me monthly additional 10 or 20GBs?

Don't need smss or voice anymore Really

For those basic packages, you get so little data and minute's yet 500sms lol

And then when you multiply the monthly payment x 36 it's like more than double the Device cash price

Years ago it was subsidized so it actually made sense to take a contract with Phone

I am a Xiaomi fan but agrees with those saying it is not the front runner anymore for value for spec.
Right now (for those with data hungry phones) I fancy a dual sim cash A34 on some Black Friday deal somewhere plus one of a or b.
a) MTN Super data Price Plan pre-paid bundles: R199/30GB; R299/70GB and R349/200GB.
b) MTN Mobile internet per month contract R215/30GB R229/70GB R399/200GB
And if you do some voice, buying voice bundles will be somewhat cheaper.
Grey Redmi note 12 pro may have NFC (depending from which region imported) but not officials ones (i think)

I don't know what's going on with Xiaomi anymore......they definitely don't add the value they used to. Due for a new phone in the next 12 month's..... will definitely look at other manufacturers. Need bang for buck.
