oh dear. if anything that's going to make performance worse. 8GB is more than plenty. My phone only has 4 and its runs just fine. There may be something physically wrong with the phone, but it sure isn't a memory shortage.MSDos Ramdisk
Yes, on my povo spec Redmi 9 it's called Memory Extension, purportedly adds 1GB that it 'borrows' from storageyes its a thing on certain phones.maybe called memory extention i think

Yes I see the wording they have chosen to describe that feature actually claims that. Whoops.Yes, on my povo spec Redmi 9 it's called Memory Extension, purportedly adds 1GB that it 'borrows' from storage
Nothing wrong with Mediatek at all.Oooooooh Mediatek CPU...... yeah should've left that one on the shelf, oof.

That's due to Xiaomi not Mediatek.Yup, nothing at all wrong with it. Except for the part where the 18 month old phone is completely failing to do the most basic things required of a smartphone. Nope, nothing at all to see here.![]()
so how many processors have you designed ,manufactured and sold ?to make the assumption that they are bad .Yup, nothing at all wrong with it. yup, totally sounds like a software issueThat's due to Xiaomi not Mediatek.
oh sorry I didn't realise you had to design, manufacture and sell something to have an opinion on its quality. silly me. I have had 2 MT-based smartphones that died in under 2 years. Poor performance, erratic behaviour, miserable battery life. And not a single Snapdragon-based phone that did the same. All running some version of Xiaomi's software.so how many processors have you designed ,manufactured and sold ?to make the assumption that they are bad .
i think MT knows what they doing .
I've owned a Redmi Note 2 MTK. Never received any android updates. Meanwhile my Oppo also with a MTK got like 2. Xiaomi sucks.yup, totally sounds like a software issue![]()
yip the software is buggy on the Redmi .ill see later about the run out of resources thing while watching a movie ,im hoping the ram extension will help that .I've owned a Redmi Note 2 MTK. Never received any android updates. Meanwhile my Oppo also with a MTK got like 2. Xiaomi sucks.
I have a slight suspicion that the memory extension might be more of a gimmick, when I did a quick comparison of how much available ram I have with a 7gb ram extension vs no extension at all under the same conditions (with and without apps opened). And I found that when I have no ram extension opened, the phone actually shows more ram available. For what reason I have absolutely no idea lol.yip the software is buggy on the Redmi .ill see later about the run out of resources thing while watching a movie ,im hoping the ram extension will help that .
I have the same F@$S#@$^ problemMy default setting is big... can't look at a beer without putting on ½kg.
