Agree with @AlphaJohn. Have imported a few phones from Gearbest and never had a problem. Make sure to select a courier for shipping, usually DHL or Aramex. They'll take care of duties etc.Yep, but back in Feb our Rand was a bit stronger so that helped.
As for the scared of imports. 2 rules:
1 Only use PayPal. They protect you for up to 60 days.
2 Use importers, don't trust registered post.
