The Official Xiaomi Thread

Elixir widgets installed. Some work, some don't. Will ask the programmer if he will be updating it.

Now, I have swapped the SIM cards of my two devices. Primary device was a Huawei 7" mediapad using an Axxess SIM, and secondary was the Xiaomi device using a prepaid CellC SIM.

Interestingly the huawei device (with only 3G) was dog slow at home (using axxess). The Xiaomi (now using axxess) flies with LTE.

I will see what battery usage is like, and report back. So much easier not to be schlepping a tablet all over the show with.

Any ideas where I can get a good protective case for my Xiaomi? Am thinking of taking a ahufty at the china mall in Centurion.

Hmmmm there is money to be made here seeing that I can not find many locally maybe I must bring in some, sadly a friend just bought my old one about 30 min's ago.....

Only places I could find online was a clear one from Takealot, a wooden one on Bid or buy and some odd ones from https://koolgear.co.za/18-phone-cases that I recon they import on order...

I bought a transparent Xiaomi branded case for R100 from Makro. This is for note4. Does the job . Don't know what device you have
 
Anyone having issues with specific brands of SD cards on the note 4?

My mom's won't detect any of our SanDisk ones. Need to find another brand for testing, otherwise it may be the slot.

I have imported most of my cases as local prices are crazy and normally not good. I would take a chance and get one from the likes of BangGood. It does take up to two months if you do free shipping.

Had a look at the redmi a4 reviews. Big whoop. I don't care if it have a funny CPU. At least oceanhorn plays on it and it does what I want, namely whatsapp, telegram and some web browsing. And a couple of simple games (pixel dungeon, flow free, word search, the pawn (magnetic scrolls), oceanhorn).

And no MIUI v9 either. Only for guys with big money, which I don't have.

So far it looks good.

The 4A is a lovely phone, despite the reviews probably drawing some criticism from the more established editors and publishers. Remember Xiaomi is pretty much a newish name in the mobile phone space alongside the more established brands like Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc. and I guess they will be scrutinized more than the average Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone.

Entering the already competitive space of budget mobile phones is a tricky thing to pull off, but I am glad that Xiaomi is covering the entire spectrum, from the high end Mi6 to the humble 4A and the interesting devices in between (Mi Max with it's 6.44" display or the bezelless Mi Mix).

Maybe a year or so down the line you should get your feet wet with importing a Xiaomi device and handing down the 4A to one of the offspring? I paid a smidge over R2200 for my Note 4, shipping and customs included and could not be happier :)
 
Just bought the redmi 4x 64gb storage and 4gb ram. My mi5 screen cracked in a bad way on holiday. Need to fix that too

Am in the UK at the moment, so eBay is an option. You pay about 20% extra for local stock, but delivery is less than a week

Sorry to hear about ye Mi5. I hope it's repairable. Will you keep the Note or use it just in the mean time until you get the Mi5 fixed?

What I thought as well wrt review. If the A4 delivers well, and is sturdy and reliable, then I will most certainly pick another Xiaomi device for replacement. Or Huawei. Depending on what is available then.

Slow battery charing time? Plugged it into a power bank, and it charged from 30% to 60% in 45 minutes.

Maybe they had a dud unit or charger for review.....

With Huawei pulling out of the bottom end of the market I don't see them dropping prices of the high end devices. The difference between the P8 and P9 Lite is a jump of R2k.

UK summer is worse than SA summer. It's not a note 4x, but a redmi 4x. I have a note 3 16gb already, but built-in storage is a problem as am one of those odd people who actually has a lot of SIM cards so no space for SD card
 
Miui.com cloud storage to be trusted with photos and phone backup? :erm:

Also, if you cast your screen to another decice (stupid question) does the destination increase in resolution or remains it the same resolution?
