The Official Xiaomi Thread

Heads up. Durban China Mall on Inanda Road has Redmi Note 3 (Kate) covers in hard black plastic. Came in on Thursday and is the same build as UAG covers for R60. Bought one and it fits like a glove. Side buttons are kinda hard to press (Minor issue) and it has cover/plugs for headphone jack and micro usb port built in.

So my phone has finally shipped.
Just a FYI for anybody ordering from gearbest. I noticed you have to be on them all the time to "FAST TRACK IT" and just get it shipped. It took them 5 days to pack and ship it.
Ordered Sunday took them 4 days to process and only after numerous online chat sessions hounding them about my order, the status finally changed to Shipped on Friday.
Now I have a tracking no, but dont hold your breath on tracking it as it takes about 2 days for the system to be updated,
Status changed from "Record Created" on Friday, to "Received at origin facility" this morning and now its in transit.
All in all I think you have to calculate about
4 Days for packing
1-4 Days for getting it from their warehouse to the Aramex Hong Kong facility (Dont believe when they say shipped as they only create the waybill)
Will update shipping time when it arrives.

@Slickster, are you using Aramex Global Shopper by any chance?

Hopefully you get it sooner rather than later.

I shipped two bundles of items recently, one from the HK-2 warehouse and another from the China warehouse from GearBest to the exact same address.

The bundle from China was dispatched with Middle East Express and is en route to me. The bundle from HK-2 is a problem because suddenly Middle East Express cannot find my postal code even though it's the same as the one I used for the China bundle.

Aggravates me to no end...

Fingers crossed they dont now come tell me they cant find my postal code

It's 14:50, and am on 76% on the new Xiaomi 4x I bought.

Screen size is a bit of a problem , coming from Note 3 and Mi5 , also keyboard is smaller so mistype a lot. It's not HD, which might be a problem at some point as well

I'm on 56% and I've been using my phone a lot today. Phone calls, whatsapp, fb, insta and listening to music via bluetooth earphones.

I'm toying with the idea of putting up a spreadsheet in the third post in this thread with everyone who wants to post up which Xiaomi devices they're using. Perhaps I can implement something with Google Sheets and update the post with fields for username, device, current ROM, etc?

What say you guys? It may save a bit of effort with folks wanting to know what devices we are running when we boast about our great battery life :D

My friend's 2 day old Note 4 (which took 3 months to arrive from Gearbest - Customs Jhb and Cpt each sat with it for more than a month and charged R360 in duties) seemed to take a huge battery beating from playing Hearthstone, bigger than I expected (as a Note 3 user).

After all the reviews I expected the Note 4 to last longer with games as well, but Hearthstone quickly took it down from around 55% to 30% during lunch.

Will keep an eye on the battery stats for "normal" use though. (All stock with latest MIUI update)

Excellent idea!

fields : username, device, current ROM, apps installed, frequently-used apps, whatsapp and telegram on PC (this makes a HUGE impact on battery life) and charging frequency (daily, every two days etc)

something like that - should be interesting.

Google Forms seems to be the bomb diggity for a quick and nasty survey.

I have updated post #3 with a link if anyone would like to contribute.

Muchos gracias :D

Sheesh you bunch are a nosy lot :p

I have edited the form so you should be able to view the responses after the fact. Please let me know if it is not working and I will investigate

Don't think it's working yet. Can't seem to find that option.

After you submit you should see this screen with a link to view previous responses:

It seems to be working my side. You may need to click through the survey again and see if it brings up the option to view the responses
