So far not much has changed, some new animations and icons, and split screen is a nice touch.

Never tried on a Samsung, had it on LG G3, and it's pretty much the same.

It's very easy to update manually

1. download the developer rom
2. Rename it to "update.zip"
3. Copy to the phones internal storage
4. open updater app and select the 3 dots
5. Select "choose update package" and select the "update.zip" file
6. The phone will take control from here on and update

They say it's a developer rom but so far I have never encountered any bugs, you mostly will get improvements and new features to try every friday.

To obtain the ultimate power saving setting, simply tap the "On" setting a couple of times, and the "Ultimate" setting will be enabled.

Keep wifi off during sleep under the wifi settings? 3g/LTE should always be off in good 'ol SA.

Its built in, Security>Battery>Gear Icon and you can select the timeout there.

I tested the download speed with wifi hotspot to pc yesterday (on the 5GHz band, max speed is apparently 860 kbps). This actually worked up until 800 + kbps.

As for USB tethering, and using the phone as a modem for the PC, what speeds can I expect? True LTE speeds (21mbps?).
I don't see any stats on this for USB tethering. I can also only test from midnight onwards since the Telkom 500GB sim becomes active.

Its built in, Security>Battery>Gear Icon and you can select the timeout there.

Mine is settings -> battery -> power -> gear icon

Have enabled it to switch lte/3g off when locked.

Interesting. With other phones I cannot delete preinstalled apps.

But with the Xiaomi I can. Cool.

Already deleted the faceboob and swiftkey apps

Edit : seems that you can only delete certain apps. Good step in the right direction, if I don't want anything, it must go.
