Chances of officially coming to SA are probably slim. Seems MIA don't import much besides the real mid to entry level phones.
 
Waiting for the Mi Max 3 launch - can't believe how little info on this model is floating around apart from Mi Max 2 official price drop in China .... must be imminant

I would like to replace my battery for the MI5 but they will not give me a quote, they keep telling me to bring the phone in.
SURELY they should be able to give me a price.

Does anyone have any idea how much it'll be ?even approximately...just to know if its worth it at least.
 
How does the redmi 4x compare to the redmi note 4 in res of usability.

It depends what you prefer really.

The Note 4 is a bit faster, has a bigger and higher res screen, as well as dual-tone LED flash. The Note 4 also oddly gets better battery life despite it having the same amperage and driving a more powerful chipset with a bigger and more dense screen.

Both are good phones IMHO. A mate of mine has the 4X and had the 4A previously, and he said the jump was pretty big. I think the jump between the 4X and Note 4 is a bit smaller

I have a 4A and a Note 4 and a friend has a 4X. 4A and 4X are same size but 4X feels better in the hand and might be slightly more responsive than the 4A. There is a slight difference in CPU's but both are considered entry level phones (SD425 vs SD435).
The Note 4 on the otherhand is a slightly bigger phone with a midrange SD 625 cpu and is much more responsive that the 4X. I prefer the size of the Note4 and so does my friend now. Actually I prefer the size of the Redmi Note 4 more than the my Galaxy S8+.
The friend with the 4X now regretted getting that model felt that he should rather have spent a bit more and gotten the Note4.
At the end of the day it's a personal choice though.

Will definitely give my impressions once I get it.

I'm upgrading from a OnePlus 3. I love OnePlus devices (have used 3 of them so far), but each time I keep wishing I had a phone with a bigger battery.

Weirdly on Friday night when I checked (I've been checking daily for the past 2 or 3 weeks), there was a listing from the China warehouse (all other listings so far have been Presale from HK warehouse), with a lower price and slightly earlier dispatch. It didn't last long but I managed to get one.

Even if it is still a pre-order, I got it for $40 less than the current price of $270.
 
Buy a Redmi 5 or Note 5A and get a free Redmi 4A from MIA.
 
I intend purchasing the Mi Mix 2 from gearbest but it says "glabal version". What does that mean and should I be concerned?

That's the one you want. Global version contains no Chinese bloatware and only clean global MIUI. Moer it

So what the difference between the "global version" Vs "international version" as it's more than $100 for the "international version"

International can sometimes have chinese bloatware on AFAIK.
 
How long does it usually take to clear customs?

Aramex asked for my ID last Friday and that's the last time I heard from them.

I'd mail them again and ask. They aren't the fastest service out there but the last time I used them it wasn't as slow as you are experiencing either

Emailed their general support contact. Do you have a contact person at armax that can reply faster?

Also Gearbest sent me a mail today saying that local customs can't contact me for some reason.
Really weird. They have my number and email.

Sadly not, but maybe try reach out to them on Twitter or any social media where they are active - posts in the public light tend to get given priority above emails that are sent to their support lines. Sad that this is how things work nowadays :(

Do you perhaps have Truecaller? Just make sure that their (Customs) calls aren't being blocked by it
