The Official Xiaomi Thread

I find their naming so annoying, I see you can get the Redmi 7 for R2,599 - thought it was the Note, but I see it's different.

Just a number (Redmi 7) = entry
Note = mid range
Mi - upper mid range to flagship (Mi Note 10 / Mi Mix / Mi 9)

bought the Redmi 7 for R2500 from Takealot yesterday.It was R3000.

Just received my k20 pro exclusive edition from gearbest via DHL express.

All I can say is that our country made it effectively a scam operation importing even a single product.

I paid DHL express for the quicker delivery to door which used to include taxes for South Africa, this doesn't anymore yet the going rate is slightly higher than before.

Once the package arrived here in SA I got a call from DHL for import duty taxes that need to be paid on the item, I figured ok since I already got screwed by DHL not including import taxes with their fee like before then I guess itll just be regular duty tax to pay.

I get the breakdown for the duty fee I need to pay and it seems either DHL or someone is double dipping on the same delivery. The breakdown for DHL include 4 different fees, the first 3 fees have nothing to do with duty tax and is some arbitrary fixed fee and the 4th entry stipulates the import duty tax.

DHL refuse to tell me why there is 4 seperate fees for this apparent import duty tax but reading the statement it seems like DHL is double or triple dipping on the first 3 fees for their own extra charges on something that was already paid for and the 4th fee is the actual import duty tax.

FK this country and FK importing anything again, they made it so restrictive with all their scam angles of extra fees that no one can explain that it is simply a gangbang where they string you up on a pole and just stretch out your ass cheeks for all to enjoy.

Honestly this whole messy ordeal with fees stacked with more fees ruined all the fun of actually receiving the phone.

You're upset because you never anticipated having to pay import taxes and duties - I get that.

But, here are the facts: DHL have never shipped from Gearbest into SA tax free. DHL always add R150 as their cut for the customs process and then the customs duty and vat is added according to SARS rates based on the declared value of the import, as declared by Gearbest themselves.

This year I have brought in 3 phones from Gearbest and using Expedited shipping which is DHL. All 3 times the invoice from DHL for the customs was in line with what I expected to be charged.

What's different to me and you? I am very familiar with the entire process of buying from Gearbest because of the knowledge gained from others in this thread as to what to expect when buying from Gearbest. You weren't robbed, you were just not familiar enough with the process.

Gearbest has the "Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 4G Phablet Global Version 6.3 inch MIUI 10 Snapdragon 665 Octa Core 4GB RAM 128GB ROM" for R2755 via email link promotion. Tempted to get it. What to expect to pay DHL/customs?

The Pro with Hello G90T and 6GB is R3377.

Budget R600

<useless post without details>

Your post is pretty useless without the details. e.g. Courier IT charged me more than the item cost in their scam "fees". Think the item was R590, the fees they added totaled R691.23 (their direct fee:R465.03)

Anyone had any issues with using 2 sims for voice (business and personal) on their dual sim Xiaomi? Did away with 2nd phone and inserted 2nd sim into Mi Max 2 at a time that coincided with the latest Miui update. 2nd sim consistently gets digital interference during voice calls until call is eventually dropped and no notifications for WhatsApp Business. Now not sure if this could relate to compatibility issues, a recent phone drop (no visible damage), or Miui update? Would like to hear from others who've tested 2 sims for voice and data.

What version did your Redmi4x update too. i have a Redmi 4A and it's MIUI version says MIUI Global 10.2.3|Stable and 10.2.3.0(NCCMIXM). Too be honest, I don't know what these mean.

Wrong! gearbest used to include all fees with shipping totals. Ive imported from gearbest ever since they went online so your assumption that this is my first time is far from accurate. If you bothered to read my entire point of posting is that it started with the fact that DHL express used to calculate the tax duties along with its "to door" delivery policy until recently.

I can't help you if you cannot read, I provided the details that it was DHL Express delivery. Fuk knows why you even bother to respond if you cannot read the information I typed out.

Anyhow I didn't post here for people to have their own opinions on what happened because there will always be some useless sots responding with details unrelated to the point I was making so let me try clear that up yet again.

DHL Express in SA charging 4 different fees of which just the 4th fee is the actual import duties.

Apparently you can't read, again, the company is pretty useless information without any details, for all we know, you paid 50c x4 and being a little illiterate bitch about it, it's not uncommon for invoices to be itemized.
