nothing extra besides shipping

is the shipping costs indicated when you place the order? or is that a surprise when it gets here?

Im assuming it would be the same on ALiexpress. Does the delivery option specifically need to state "priority"? I dont think i have seen that option on anything i have looked at there.

In that case might be worth to look at Gearbest then. i didnt look at them as they were more expensive than ALiexpress. But i can live with that if the price indicated is the actual final price with no surprises when it arrives here.

Ok yeah so only on certain items you have priority line shipping, just purchased 2 cases and 3 screen protectors for R300 including insurance, so im good. R5K all in for the phone, not bad.

on this specific one from geekbuying you mean?
Doesn't matter where you buy the device.
MIUI 11 already confirmed for December this year...
Yes but the Android version stays the same.

My Redmi Note 2 had 3 Miui (from 6 to 9) updates but stayed on Android 5. The Redmi Note 4 stayed on Android 6. Haven't kept up with the newer ones.

Dont think it should be an issue, Nokia also uses mediatek chips and they are always up to date.

With the release of the kernel sources for the Android Pie release of the Redmi Note 8 Pro (with the MediaTek Helio G90T SoC inside), Xiaomi remedies a part of the problem that has plagued MediaTek SoCs in the past. With the release of these kernel sources, we can expect work to take off on custom kernels and recoveries for the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Looks like they are getting better

Anyone use geekbuying before? reputable or not?
they have the same one with more RAM and with the priority so presumably no extra hidden charges for R400 less than local. Redmi Note 8 Pro 8Gb 128 Green
That one is not the Global version. Not sure what that will mean.

It is not installed with Google Play Store, google services, or multi-languages (only English and Chinese). Kindly note with thanks.

The ones on Geekbuying that are worthwile in price do not ship to S.A. Or they are not the global version. Typical.

Out of curiosity, can you even install playstore via an APK on the chinese versions?

Looks like Takealot is going to win it for this one. With covers and screenprotectors from Gearbest.

Gearbest (BF Email link) has the Note 8 Pro Global Version 6GB/128GB for R3073 (and the Note 8 4GB/128GB for R2482). Add R250. Add R100 resending insurance (paypal has be covered for refund but I wanted it) Minus R87 discount code I had elsewhere. Checkout display price R3340.

After selecting USD in paypal I paid $226 which became R3496 at current rates. I guess with DHL+customs I think it would come just over R4000.
