The Official Xiaomi Thread

Please advise, A week ago I bought a Xiaomi Mi TV Box S , did the connection and downloaded a couple of apps. On the second day of use I started to receive an error “Video playback error” on the screen. There is retry and close, it seems to happen regularly now on anything,Dstv now, showmax, Netflix etc.
I click retry sometimes it works , sometimes it display the error again. I tried to restart, disconnect hdmi and reconnect, nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Try posting in the mi box thread, maybe someone there had similar issues. I know there was new updates pushed recently that might have somethign to do with it?
 
Wife's mi8 screen just died. 7 days out if warranty...

Mia.africa cant repair the phone and want me to buy a replacement phone - redmi 8a for R2000.
Not even in the same class as the mi8. Phone was just over a year old, delivered on the 6/02/19 iirc and they cant replace the screen or whatever needs to be done. I have asked why it cannot be repaired but have not received an answer on that. So besides the local warranty, there is no other reasons to buy locally imo.

They ignored all my attempts to contact them RE: warranty, fortunately a reset fixed my problem - so I won't buy locally again, unless its cheaper.

I've dealt with connected devices and smartphoneshop regarding warranties in the past and the experience has been good. So price is not always king, after sales service makes a big difference.
 
Where can I find a replacement band for my Amazfit Bip? Preferably local as it will take at least 4 weeks if I order from Gearbest of eBay.

I have to say when I queried in the beginning, I dealt with a guy called Ricardo. Answered all my questions etc, was very helpful. They just got back to me with a deal I cannot refuse. Will update once it sorted.

Have you thought about importing a screen and replacing it yourself/ getting a cellphone shop to replace it?
