Hi, I haven't used a forum for a long time - hope this is in the right place.

I have an incredibly irritating problem with my Redmi 4x phone. Contacts are appearing twice in my contacts list. Please note: This is not due to the contact existing in more than one account; I am only displaying contacts from my Mi account. The "Merge duplicates" option does not find any duplicates. Deleting a duplicate results in both entries being deleted. The only solution I have found is to write down the number, delete the contact and then manually re enter it. Googling this issue leads me to the "merge duplicates" option which does not work. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

I stand to be corrected but it could be due to having dual contacts in the sense that the same contact is saved twice. Once being the standard normal phone number and the second is same number but on whatsapp. Not offering a solution but a probable reason as to why.

Hey, you might be onto something here. In WhatsApp, I went to "view contact" (for one of my duplicates) and the number appears twice. First, under "About and phone number" and then under "Other phones". What do you suppose that's about?

I suspected so as my case is similar however I unfortunately do not know why this is the case - maybe someone more knowledgable will chirp in - I haven't really looked into the issue to try and solve it. Just chalked it up to android quirks.

I have the same issue. I just have my Google account linked which has my contacts. If I go to the phone app to make a call and I search for a number, it then appears twice. The one number has no spaces and the other does. Same for WhatsApp. Some how duplicates have been created.
 
Be careful of the Android 10 update for Mi A2 Lite, phone is bricked now. Similar reports online.

Yea saw alot of this mentioned online - everyone is so eager to be android 10 that they immediately jump on it and a bricked phone is the end result

Same here. My phone's only about 3 months old so I'm going to ask Takealot for a refund.

Well yeah with technology purchases one can can always 'wait it out' cause eventually it becomes cheaper when newer models are released / mass production kicks in. All depends if one (as an example) use the amazing 108mp camera to its full potential or just for bragging rights which would mean you might as well stick with a cheaper / older phone.
