No nomination for Hugh Grant in Heritic.
The Oscars are a klomp kak
We should not be celebrating white men when they are masterful at their portrayal of shameful/disgusting/twisted/wicked elements from their culture and history. It is not at all a liberating position to be able to portray art that talks to the worst aspects of your culture, let alone make millions from doing so.

Grant should get a mulligan here IMO; he did get a blowjob from a person-of-colour in disgrace to his white wife at the time.

One last woke hoorah before Trump lays waste to this crap. I see Perez sweeping all the top awards.
I mean look who read out the nominations.

SMH.

Yup, I just went through the entire list of best picture winners and I've only ever watched maybe 13 of them in total. Last best picture winner I've seen was 2012's Argo :)

Does anyone actually watch or care about the Oscars anymore? I mean apart from the self-admiration and back-slapping that the celebrities do each year.

How many winners of best picture have there been so what % of those have you watched :-).

Yet here we are with a thread for it...
Don't recall ever really caring about these things. Just do your job and act in a movie and that's all I care about. Voetsek with your dumb awards.

96 so I've watched 13 or 14% :p
So sorta still stands, who really watches them :-). Pretty sure I've watched one or two without realising they were best picture :-)

Yes sorry, I agreed with your initial post, wasn't answering your question when I said yup lol.

I had no intention of watching The Brutalist, but now I have to see what all the fuss is about after the Emmy awards.
:X3:

I went through the list of 96 winners and I have watched 16 -
  • Lawrence of Arabia
  • Rocky (Multiple times)
  • The Deer Hunter (Once was enough, this is one heavy film)
  • Platoon (Multiple times)
  • Silence of the Lambs (Multiple times)
  • Schindler's List (Multiple times)
  • Forrest Gump (Multiple times)
  • Braveheart (Multiple times)
  • Titanic (Multiple times)
  • American Beauty
  • Gladiator (Multiple times)
  • Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Multiple times)
  • Million Dollar Baby (This one makes me cry like a baby)
  • Crash
  • The King's Speech
  • Birdman
Since Birdman won in 2014, the only movie I feel I have dropped the ball on not watching is Oppenheimer. I should probably also watch The Shape of Water, Green Book and Parasite.
