So after killing the AM3+ FX-8120 build I decided to go for a low-end AM4 rig in Ugly Case™ .

Thankfully someone was breaking up mining rigs and I bagged a board and APU for R750. Into ugly case the go, plan it so build this into a Athlon 200 GE or 240 GE.

My cable management is poor to say the best.

Dammit, the RipJaw V5 modules does not work in ugly PC or my Ryzen PC. Is this a known compatibility issue?

I'll take it to work and try it in my Dell i7 to make sure there is nothing wrong with the RAM.

So 95% of my parts arrived yesterday, just waiting for the m2 drive which comes today. Also need to get two more fans for the case, turns out that maybe I should've listened to the guy where I bought the case :-). Yes I like the white look of it, but it only had one rear 120mm fan, whereas there is space for 6 fans.
So before going home going to stop and get two more fans for now and will add the additional 3 as time goes on. What I do like about the case is that the 2.5" and 3.5" drive bays clip out and you just slide the drive in and clip it back, for a cheap case it also has quite a lot of routing for cabling. I've not built up a computer in over 10 years and back then cases didn't really have routing like this, seems cable management has become a proper thing now which is nice.

Can't you route the cables behind the motherboard plate? I don't see any gaps though to run the cables through though.

Not in that case, it is a horrible old GigaByte one. Woot agreed to take back the RAM so once I get credit I'll get other RAM.

^, nice.

There was a post on Reddit where a guy posted his Microcenter receipt...1600x for $58. Was an open box thing but still crazy value.

First build in ten years, case looks better then it was inside. Could do some cable routing but having the CPU power right at the top and the PSU right at the bottom made it so I had to route it all that way.
Also non modular PSU kind of just shoved the unused cables into the bottom 3.5 drive bay :)IMG_20190314_205255.jpegIMG_20190314_204506.jpegIMG_20190314_201446.jpeg

Okay really really silly question, the case has a USB3 header that also has a USB2 header on it, do I need to connect both for the USB3 port or just the 2? I'm thinking not as the USB3 front port isn't working 100% with both connected?

Good news! The AMD FX CPU that was on the mobo that blew up still works.
I thought the only way to find out was to sell it and see what rating I get

I used to have this Gigabyte case about 8 years ago! They haven't changed it one bit! Still has the same plastic drive clips!!

I am like you with Cable management, don't really care though case sits on the floor

Cable management is a biatch :) thought I could do it all nicely. Eventually I was like screw it and did what I could. As long as there is airflow. Compared to what my cases of the 80s and 90s looked like. You opened it up and there was a rats nest of cables.

, reminds me of a CPU that literally had a rat's nest in it when I opened it.

My brother has an Asus H110M-R motherboard and looking to drop a fairly decent CPU onto this thing. Budget is around 5K. Any recommendations? The specs for this motherboard say:

Intel for 6th Generation Core i7/Core i5/Core

But my knowleadge of CPU's is crappy at best.
