Is HDMI out of the question ?Hi people need some help. Building an htpc, 2 issues.
#1 only has stereo output. i need 5.1 output but can't find a usb or pci-e sound card that's reasonable priced. tv has SPDIF
#2 only DisplayPort output on the onboard, using a converter it can't do 4k. I want 4k60 i have a old gpu but the power required for the gpu doubles the pc power usage. also doesn't fit in the sff case.
Any help will be appreciated.

The Ryzen R5 3600 is really good value for money and the 1660ti. But these are midrange parts do you want higher end?
now I"m in the market for a new PC - not an upgrade or whatsoever, one of my hard drives has failed and you would think after 9 years on Sandybridge, it would more sensible to just buy a new PC minus the power supply which is still new.
I see AMD Ryzen has a better deal over Intel with their prices so some advice would be appreciated. My budget isn't looking that great and I prefer a quad-core CPU over anything else. I play games now and then, spend more time watching TV series / movies and then there's IT related work which I"ve been out of for too long (6 years, I think) so I'm not too clued up about AMD's products. Any advice would be really appreciated.
I'm in the UK so lets see what they have at the current rate.
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Gen2 6 Core AM4 CPU/Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler
ASUS AMD Ryzen PRIME X570 P AM4 PCIe 4.0 ATX Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM/Memory Module
Corsair Force LE200 120GB 2.5" SATA3 SSD/Solid State Drive
Seagate Backup Plus Portable 4TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Silver + 200GB Cloud Storage
Interesting, thanks. Is it better to buy off Amazon?^, skip x570 - it doesn't offer anything for your use cases and the B450 Tomahawk is a third of the price (Amazon UK prices).

Omw, far much cheaper, just seen the price on https://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi...-crossfire-realtek-gbe-usb-31-gen2-aplusc-atx

Rest to follow tomorrow.
You're in the UK?
What's your budget?
Do you have a monitor, keyboard, mouse already?
What resolution is the monitor if you have one, what do you use the pc for and which games do you play?
Great my 3 month old Transcend M.2 drive seems to have died during the night. Had my Plex database on as well so now Plex won't start. Also my Virtual machines. Great start to the day
