Sorry to hijack this thread guys, but can anyone help? My 600T Corsair has 4 pin case fans, and my ASUS motherboard only has one 4pin connector. I want to connect them to the motherboard so I can use the ASUS intelligent fan control to automatically regulate fan speed - I guess this means I need to connect them to the motherboard as opposed to molex connectors to use this?

My question is if anyone has a link to some sort of adapter to connect 4 pin fans to 3 pin mobo connectors? I'm pulling my hair out here.

Hi Guys

This week I will be re-doing my whole PC / work setup. I am looking at buying and putting together the following PC.

Can I get some recommendations as to what will work, what not and other recommendations?

The PC this far looks like it will cost me around the 40k mark, but I am looking at spending around 50k.

That monitor is pretty lame. Rather get a dell u2713hm, better res, one of the best panels currently available. And those divoom speakers are horrible. Unless you can handle disgusting sound quality, you can do a lot better. (stay away from logitech. thank god I got rid of all my logitech speakers. I guess its ok if you have never heard anything else, but once you hear what the music was supposed to sound like, you wont go back)

I'd like to get a few components for my desktop PC, and your input would be greatly appreciated. I have a measly budget of R4000, and I'd like to update what I have to make it more gaming-orientated. I'm looking to get a Motherboard, Processor and Graphics Card, and I've been told I'll need new ram as well. I'm comfortable on a pc, just not when it comes to the technical side, so please excuse any ignorance my side with follow-up questions! A friend will help me put it all together. Here's what I have already... Thanks!

R 4000 is not a lot of money to build a new gaming PC.
Go for a nice mid range motherboard, ASUS od MSI and a Intel I5 chip.
The new ATi (AMD) 7 series graphics cards are good bang for buck.

There are a lot of great guys that sell Components on-line and deliver excellent service.

I don't need a GPU (already have one). The only thing missing is the PSU - would my current 450W be underpowered?
This is primarily going to a be a dev machine with some small gaming if I find time.

I see the Comogam site's price is a little outdated for each build (I was looking at the Enthusiast Build). I still need to add a keyboard and maybe some speakers - but I've hit my 8k limit on those components.

There is a difference but you won't notice it in games. The difference comes into play when you use apps like Photoshop and converting movies (although some video converters are moving to using the GPU through CUDA for nVidia - can't remember the one for AMD). Those apps make use of the extra cores you have at your disposal.

For gaming, the i5-3570K processor is more than adequate. Rather put more money into getting a GTX670 or GTX680 than amping up the CPU when you're a gamer!

I ordered some new components today. Collecting on Friday because of a CPU stock delay. I'm super amped. Total cost was R6629 from the local PC store I've supported for years.

Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3-1600
128GB Transcend SSD (557/524)

Plus my existing MSI GeForce GTX 560, which I'm not convinced needs replacing.
Outgoing processor is the Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.15GHz.

I have an i3-3220 Ivy, with 3 hdd's and a PowerColor 7870 Myst (which has the Tahiti LE platform, thus more power draw than a normal 7870). All that running from an Antec Neo Eco 620W, no probs. So yes, your PSU will be more than capable.

Depends how many HDDs or SSDs (and optical drives) you're looking to have in the foreseeable future. If you're wanting 6 or more, it probably won't be sufficient and you'll need to head towards the 1000W/1100W mark. Otherwise, I'd say anything less than that, you should be fine and Antec has reliable products.

Whoops Corsair is also very good. I've had a Gigabyte and now have an Antec. The Gigabyte was extremely noisy while the Antec was so quiet!

Haven't had a Corsair but heard and read great responses from their products.

Or the I5 3570k + MSI big Bang Z77 OC edition = R4000.

Which one do you guys rate?

I will be using a 7950.

Also what power supply would you recommend for these key ingredients?

Current keyboard is a Razer Lycosa Mirror (going to be replaced by a Gigabyte Osmium), mouse also to be replaced soon. And no, I do not have an SSD, but like space more than performance there. Should also say that I prefer a Nvidia GPU above an AMD one. Current AMD card drivers cause too many crashes on SC2.

If you buy anything, it must be now, as the horrific exchange rate won't take long to cannonball our prices.

Personally, the first thing I would buy if I was you is the 27" Asus 3D IPS display for R4800. What good is marvelous hardware if you don't have a display to adequately appreciate it? Also, I highly recommend a solid state drive. It's not so much an improvement as a different level of enjoyment. Boot time is incredibly fast and games benefit quite a lot.

I recommend the following:
Core i5-4670
Decent Gigabyte Haswell M/B (Gigabyte has the best BIOS/UEFI interface)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX770 2GB
2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz
Coolermaster GX 650W PSU

That's all from the same website, so shipping costs shouldn't be too bad if they charge anything at all. Total is R13134, leaving plenty of cash for other stuff for your system (eg. a nice monitor, or stow it away for the Oculus Rift). I don't recommend spending more on those particular components, as the system will kick ass but be a smart buy - pretty much all of that is at the margin of diminishing returns.
