Hi everyone,
Random question, do I need to update my BOIS to improve performance as I just bought a RTX 3070 or wont it make any deference?
Thanks in advance.

No, not necessary.

Removing your existing graphics card driver is probably a good idea though - use DDU.

Hi, thanks wasn't aware I need to do that.

It's not a "need" to type thing usually - it can prevent some issues but you also might plug your new card in without doing anything and it would work fine (especially if you're going from Nvidia to Nvidia or AMD to AMD).

I use DDU more because it annoys me how massive driver packages have gotten nowadays so I get some satisfaction from nuking things when I upgrade drivers.

Is it worth going for the OC versions of a GPU?

Depends on the price,. difference - I'd get the OC model from the ones below (not punting Giagabyte's card, it was the only one that had a couple variants with pricing available).

Not for OC bit particularly but I'd expect the bigger heatsink and extra fan to make it a quieter card. Also the way boost algorithms work in GPU's and CPU's nowadays, a card with better cooling would boost higher all things being equal. Worth 300 bucks to find out.

Need some case airflow advice.
I know what i want to do, but some help or advice is always welcome!

So i'm moving my system into a bigger chassis

What i have and placement i want to do.
3x 120mm fans ( Thermaltake )
1x 140mm fan ( Phanteks
2x 140mm fans ( Corsair, but these are mounted on the aio )

3x 120mm fans for intake ( mesh front )
Aio cooler with it's x2 140mm fans for push/ exhaust at the top
140mm at the back for exhaust

The case is the P500A model, lekker space.

That's fine. To rgb, or not to rgb: that is the question...

Not a huge rgb fan ( i know I'll lose that extra sweet fps per rgb )
But I have all black components, mixing that with white led/ fan led's

I installed it last night, temps came down with a few Celsius :giggle:
The previous case didn't allow much airflow.

My Ryzen 5800X under load averages at 58 Celsius. Quite happy with that, saw a few forums saying this bad boy runs hotter.

I remember looking at a new 1080Ti for R13000. Not long ago either. That was the highest end graphics card of its generation.

Drop to a B550 motherboard and upgrade to a 3070.

Save on the SSD, get something cheaper. Use that money for the 3070 or faster RAM.

Tell me about it...1070 just got it's 4 years of service award and I'll probably only start looking to upgrade a few months from now.

I can't justify the upgrade to the 3070.. I would never be pushing it to its full potential.. I am only a casual gamer and don't chase highest fps at the highest resolution..

Also, x570 seems to be the only chipset that offers front usb type c connectors, which my chosen case has got and I would like to be able to make use of.. I have run through a few b550 board from both Asus and gigabyte, none of which has front usb type c..

I'm building a Mini-iTX Ryzen system this year.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x -- or maybe push for the Ryzen 9 5900x?
G.Skill 3600C16 Trident Z Neo (2x16GB)
Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI
Sabrent 1TB NVMe PCIe4
Coolermaster NP200R - Ordered
2x Fractal Design FD-FAN-PRI-AL12-PWM Prisma AL ARGB LED 120mm PWM - Ordered
Gigabyte AORUS Liquid Cooler 280 LCD RGB 280mm
AMD Radeon 5700XT - My Current card, not upgrading.

I'm having trouble finding any SFF PSU's in stock anywhere, I need minimum 700w for my load, overclocking included.
The Corsair SF750 seems to be a popular choice, but stock? Budget is R3k for PSU.

Is this paired with a 1440p monitor?

I'm running a 3070 and a 3700X. The GPU is the bottleneck for me, not the CPU. So the 3060Ti would be even more of a bottleneck.

Not that FPS is low or anything, but the CPU is waiting for the GPU and I game at 1080P.
