Basically what I'm upgrading to if I decide to go there. Basic requirements 35k budget, intel cpu 12x range, nvidia gpu at least 3060, chassis, 32 gig rams, 2x nvmes.
Gaming, work (software dev and game dev), vms (*nix mostly). I have the antec 850 hcg gold plus. I do have a spare 1tb ssd samsung evo 860.For gaming?
Drop the second 1TB nVME, grab yourself a 1TB SSD and use the extra to upgrade to a 3080.
What PSU do you have? Ideally you'd want a 750W if you go 3080, 650W for 3070/Ti.
Depends on the CPU.Hmm is it any worthwhile effort to go liquid cooling?
When I was looking at 650w vs 750w the 650 wasn't much cheaper to be honestFor gaming?

Considering it's for gaming, I'd say it's worth putting as much of your budget into performance. A 1TB nVME is nice, but unnecessary.Gaming, work (software dev and game dev), vms (*nix mostly). I have the antec 850 hcg gold plus. I do have a spare 1tb ssd samsung evo 860.
SATA and not nVME I assume?Laptop SSD drive to replace 1TB HDD. Have around R1500.00 to spend.
Thinking of a Samsung EVO 870, 500 gigabyte, any alternatives worth considering. Would be nice, if I could push it to 1TB, but don't think that possible.
Thanks
Laptop might not be able to fit that 1tbSATA and not nVME I assume?

Could be possible, depending on the laptop. Some of them use a weird proprietary connection cable but if it's a standard SATA connection you could probably do it.SATA is what it has, dunno what options for adapters are available for other types.
Might be nice if I could pull out the DVD drive and put the current 1TB drive in, in it's place.

You will fall on your back when you actually see how much faster an SSD makes an older PC or laptop. It's absolutely mind-boggling.It is a Lenovo G50-80 i5 with 6Gig RAM - not convinced that upgrading RAM would be a major benefit, but believe putting in a good SSD would give it a whole lot of OOOMP ... , which I feel it lacks ...
3 months today, tomorrow or 6 months later? 4xxx is "due december" but could also post march 23. Even then you play the game. Buy 3080 sell it then and get 4080?Personally I wouldn’t buy a two year old GPU because they age so fast. If I did I’d want it at a good discount. Yes I know you might have to wait a long time because we don’t know when exactly next gen will launch , but being on the cutting edge some of the time is part of the reason we game on PC, right? Especially if you’re investing in something like the 3080. You don’t want to pay full price only for it to be replaced three months later by a card half the price like the 2080 Ti was
Just my opinion.
Or a nvme a slow ssd pc? Hehe. You will fall on your back when you actually see how much faster an SSD makes an older PC or laptop. It's absolutely mind-boggling.
People have been saying this the entire 2022, if I listened I wouldn't have gotten my 3070ti and wouldn't be playing games over 100fps at 1440pPersonally I wouldn’t buy a two year old GPU because they age so fast. The 12GB model should be good for a while.Thanks. Dropped one of the nvmes for 3080.
