just something i read up on a bit recently,

with Intel launching their new CPUs sometime later this year, is it worthwhile waiting for such, or just continuing with whatever currently availble components?
Also, will the prices of current 4th gen CPUs drop at all, after the new CPUs are released?

New gen cpu will naturally cost more.
Older cpus should drop in price.
It's always better to wait a bit for new stock to stabilize in the market.

Hehehe no. The X is actually just the better model with higher clock speeds. Both can still overclock, but only a few people actually overclock their GPUs. The R9 270 is better value for money than the R9 270X, but the X will outperform it. It mostly comes down to your budget and how far it can stretch.

That's a nice looking case. Putting a case inside a cupboard will surely increase the heat, but to no mayor extent. Depends on what components you have, how many fans, and what you use it for? You can go for a mITX setup. Some nice mITX cases out there.

True what electric said. I usually buy components of the current gen, if the new Gen is still going to be released 4 months in the future. That means it will be 5 months before it becomes available for us here in SA. Problem is, we don't know the true performance of the new Gen until about a month or week before release. That sometimes makes it hard to decide to invest big money into a machine, since all the companies claims the new Gen will hit the old ones out of the water. Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all make those claims, with Intel usually being making the most "unbelievable" claims and when it releases the CPU it is merely 5% faster than previous Gen.

I only need the case, my pc is already sorted.
My mobo is micro ATX - I have an Asus Gryphon (the sweetest motherboard I ever had :love:)
PSU (the 850w version)
and an AMD 7950GFX card.

Mainly for gaming. So as I said, I am a bit concerned that there might be a lot of heat.
 
Yep, look at Nvidia's claims on their new drivers, note I said drivers not new gpu.

Nvidia released the GeForce 337.50 beta drivers to much fanfare. Nvidia itself said that the drivers could improve single GPU performance by up to 64%, and SLI configurations by up to 71%.
 
Upgrade time

I am looking at the following:

Case: Coolermaster (my current case, forgot the specs)
Psu: 600w (RC-600-pcar-e3) I've had this for a few years now
Mobo: Asrock z87 fatality
Cpu: i5-4670k
Ram: Crucial Ballistic Sport XT (2x4gb)(I can expand that to another 8gb if needs be)

Undecided: This is where I need some advice (I know a bit vague)
SSD - Absolutely no clue (but around 256gb at least) (Around R2k budget)
HDD - 2tb something or the other (it doesn't need to be fast just reliable) (Around R2k budget)
Gpu: I've been looking at either Nvidia 760 / 70 / 80 or AMD R9270 / 80 / 90 (Let's say R5k - R7k budget)

What do I want to do with my new setup? BF4, COD, WOT, Perhaps some MMOs.

While my budget can be bumped up, I want to keep costs down as I need to build two of these puppies (one for my son).

KB, Mouse all sorted for now.

Thoughts, opinions, criticism always welcome.

SSD 256GB the way to go, the Liteon ones are nice and cheap.
2TB will be less than 2k so you can save some bling there.
GPU: If your budget is R5000 - R7000, then a R9 290 will be perfect. However, you state that you'd like to save some money to build another PC. If you are going to play on 1080p (23" or 24") monitor, without any extra monitors, then a R9 280X would be perfect and save you some bling for another PC.

I fine with full water cooling as well, doesn't matter to me, what matters is if there is a water cooling solution for a Bit Fenix phenom case.

So my pc is completely effed:mad:

I moved my gpu to the other pci express slot, started getting bios errors, then moved it back to the original slot.

Error: the current bios setting do not fully support the boot device. And something about csm error.

Mobo:Asus gryphon. Anyone experience this with their Asus boards?
 
So I went with the BitFenix phenom case... Man this is the most difficult case ever.... Took me a whole day to move my components to this case.
