It was only yesterday I realised I paid R400 for RGB on my RAM :). Yes it really does look nice but R400 nice, cause I see the Ripjaw by G-Skill is essentially the same as the trident but with a different heat sink and no RGB?
Or am I missing something? Cause yes I do like lighting up my case now, but part of me is like R400 for a freaking light. This is also of course a week before the price drop of the Ryzen 2600 :-(.

Hi to be fair i never expected to reach 3200mhz, thus i opted for the 3000mhz RGB (which is only R200 something more than the ripjaws) and I recently upgraded my desk to a white gloss top and it looks amazing with all my RGB gear now.

One thing and maybe someone could give me some advice: while i was still gawking at the RGB lights in the case my pc booted on my old windows on my SSD, i had a bootable USB ready and obviously would have done it but for some reason my old windows 10 works perfectly. Updated all my drivers etc and I played a few games and it was fine? Is this fine?

Shouldn't be an issue as far as I know?
 
I need a sexy slim ATX case, kinda like this one I had back in 2010.

Tbh most cases have moved on from those days. Airflow wasn't as good as it is now. Even the "cheapie" case I bought has far better airflow and cable management then what was available 9 years ago.
So yeah that thermal take is a really good option saw some nice fractal cases on wootware.
 
I saw them, the Tt Core G3 - but it is still a bit thick. I would love something like my InWin Chopin but for an ATX motherboard.

Was super impressed with the cheap Muchkin Ridgelin DDR4-2400 16GB (2x8GB) I bought earlier the week, it runs beautifully in both my AMD machines and in the Ryzen I managed to clock it up to 2800Mhz (stock voltage). That is why I want to get rid of my pricey FlareX and replace it with these Mushkins.

I have a very difficult decision to make,either another ps4 with ps4 vr headset or a pc.My son has been nagging me for vr headset for my ps4 but as always the answer is no.I need to ask a simple but complex question.
1- what is the cheapest build for a pc that can handle the rift vr headset and games
2-What is the cheapest good vr headset to use for vr chat(application)as my son is going on about vr chat on youtube.
Comments by the fire is welcomed thanks.
ps..give me prices and or best pc shops to get these things.
As always if this was mentioned before .....mods you know what to do thank you gentlemen

The Rift has been retired and replaced by the Rift S.

On October 6, 2016, Oculus VR announced lessened hardware recommendations, now suggesting an Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD FX 4350 CPU, at least a GeForce GTX 960 or equivalent graphics card, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port, and Windows 8 or newer. The company stated that these lower requirements were enabled by the adoption of motion interpolation; on systems that cannot handle full 90 frames per second rendering, the drivers will allow software to render at 45 FPS instead, and generate frames based on differences between them to send to the headset to maintain its frame rate. Oculus promoted that these changes lowered the average hardware cost of a PC meeting these specifications to US$500 and would also enable certain laptops to run Oculus Rift.

You have to however ask how long before the novelty wears off and it starts gathering dust? You don't hear much of the VR hype these days, the games aren't great either.

The specs mentioned above seem pretty poor if you want to play modern AAA titles (non-VR). The rift alone is about R11-12k, decent pc probably ~R13k

Not fond of evetech due to after sales service. They dont specify make & model for all included components so you dont know what you're getting, they pair a 2700x with 2666mhz ram, seen before where the bundle a single ramstick with ryzen which is really daft. The same build with a r5 2600 you can do for R11k.

Good luck with the Mushkin RAM , my units start dying one by one after about a year. No overclocking. Replaced them with G-Skill and going strong now.

A friend of mine hasn't had any issues with Evetech, he's bought and returned quite a few things. I didn't notice they didn't specify the RAM make, it's like I was watching LTT and they bought generic 2400 RAM on E bay that they couldn't even get a vendor id off of it. Wonder what it actually was. For this Evetech one I wonder if you could mail them and ask.
Back when I was building pcs on a real budget being a school kid and later a student I remember generic ram was a lot more common, even bought some from Matrix Warehouse when they first opened in the early 2000s. But only around 2005 did I start to try match modules, get Samsung or Hynix modules.
Also 2666mhz with a 2700x isn't the end of the world remember 3200 is just overclocked 2666mhz RAM and the 2700x recommended is 2933

Seriously? I've had my Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB DDR2 1600 for nearly 10 years now. I rather pay a little more for quality PC parts than have something fail on me a year later. My Sandybridge is 9 years, still going strong (quad core if you need to know).

I just replaced my HD5750 GPU fans sometime before Christmas last year and they were running for like 7 / 8 years. No overclocking, nothing, just a work machine, media machine and gaming machine all in one. Plus bonus is that the Asus motherboard has surge protection - since the load shedding started, that surge protection has saved my hide many times. My PSU failed after 8 years (thanks Eishkom) so I got myself the Corsair 650w PSU (I can't remember which series), cost me a pretty buck but I know it's quality and it will go a long way.
