Foster Son, has a Gigabyte H67 MA-USB3-B3 motherboard, with a i5-2320 CPU, want to give him a memory upgrade.

So I need DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz RAM chips. Want to put 8 Gigs. in there ( 2x 4Gig. ).

Who will likely have?

Will higher speed RAM work, if I cannot get DDR3 1333 speed RAM?

Higher speed RAM will work, but you can only run it at the speed of the slowest RAM.

Don't want to use existing, want 2x new sticks of RAM ... , board is a bit old ..., but cannot afford buying him a new one :(

Do not like mixing and matching RAM. :( :(

I had 2 x 2GB, then added 2 x 4GB of a different model and speed, and then replaced the 2 x 2 with 2 x 8GB, again different. I think everything was Corsair though. The board turns 10 in Feb and I haven't had any RAM related issues yet.

I understand and accept that, as being fairly typical. 10 - 15 years ago, I had a number of instances where memory sticks would work separately, but not when paired with others, and some that would not work on one make motherboard but where happy working on another. My son was young then and I was the IT type for the group of friends, and I had a fist full or two of RAM sticks, and other spares to keep them operating, and the LAN's functioning.

Would you recommend this PSU brand?

I got the 650W 80 plus gold version and it’s lovely.

As an aside, I don’t think you need 750w.

Gamers Nexus did a video on power supplies and it was very enlightening. Rather get a higher efficiency rating, like Gold, Platinum etc.

I would need 750W for the new GPUs.

Do you have recommendations for 750W Gold Platinum?

Just a couple of things.

In May, I bought a 2060 Super. But then my PSU started running out of oompf. So I had to get a bigger PSU. Decided on the Corsair Rm750x (2018 model), as it has a low enough inrush current to not trip my inverter.

Then I bought a Corsair 100R silent chassis. Very nice looking case.

I recently noticed that my Ryzen 3600 was idle at 60-65C and hitting 95C at high load, which is a bit high, so I got two 140mm case fans to improve airflow. However, this did absolutely nothing. CPU idle is still at 60-65C and high load at 90-95C. GPU seems to top out at around 83C.

So now I have ordered a Cooler Master Hyper 212X cooler and better thermal paste. I think the stock cooler is a bit "meh", so I think this will help a lot. Some of the reviews I've seen, I should see around a 15-20C drop in temperatures.

Corsair 100R silent does not have good airflow, you've got a hot box. Whatever cooler you use will vent into the case increasing temps.

What happens to the cpu temps under load when you remove one or both side panels from the case?

I expected the silent case to be hot, but even removing the side panel, the CPU temp doesn't change significantly.

I'm not great at thermodynamics and airflow, but what I'm suspecting is happening is that the Ryzen cooler, which blows directly away from the motherboard, can possibly disrupt the airflow through the case going from front to back.

The Cooler Master cooler has a much larger heatsink and the fan will blow in the same direction as the case fans. Also, the new thermal paste has a thermal conductivity of 11 W/mK vs the 4 W/mK of my old paste. So hopefully the heat will be transferred better from CPU to heatsink.

Is the cooler seated properly as those temps are really hot.

As far as I can tell, it is. I've seen those temperatures mentioned by other people using the stock cooler
I have also have a ryzen 5 3600. . Idle/web browsing it's about 35-40 degrees ...under load it goes up to about 75-85 degrees

Using an aftermarket air cooler
