If you want to pay R3000 for an SSD, I suggest that you look at the Samsung on takealot:

Check this out on takealot: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB NVMe Solid State Drive

Hey guys. Looking to build a PC with a budged around 35K. I know abit about this stuff but im lacking knowledge of the nuances. If anyone could help i'd greatly appreciate it! :)

Ill be buying all my parts from wootwore and having them build it.

Extra info:
Ill be using the PC mostly for gaming. VR gaming as well. Work too, but I doubt the work will be too intensive. In the future I do plan on game design and 3D modelling if that matters?

The 35K is for the tower alone and speakers.

What do you want to do with the PC? Gaming, work, combination? If combination, what sort of work?

Also, is R35k just for the tower or do you need screen, keyboard, mouse, webcam, speakers, headset, chair etc?

If he doesn't mind waiting a bit longer, he can get the 1tb 970 Evo Plus from Amazon for the same price.

Ill edit that stuff into the post now so its easier to see

Something like this would serve you well. The speakers are really up to you, I don't know what level of sound you're wanting out of them so I just added what they had in stock.

You would ideally want a better CPU cooler and a rear case fan too, not sure how flexible the budget is.

EDIT: changed to a B550 and added an AIO and case fan.

This looks great man! Thanks alot!! I just have a few questions about it.

1. How important is the CPU cooler and like what would happen without it? Also did you include the rear case fan? Also what do you think about the 3900 XT for a cpu?

2. I noticed there were a few GPU's as opposed to that specific 3070.

For example the palit 3080 is only 2000 more so I was wondering if that would be worth it? I've never heard of palit.

3. About the case, is there any reason you chose this one in particular? I dont know much about them tbh.

The CPU does ship with a cooler which will work fine. Generally keeping the CPU cooler allows it to boost for longer and theoretically last longer, so a better cooler is a good idea, but it isn't a must, the stock one will work fine.

If you can stretch for a 3080 then definitely go that route. It's a lot quicker.

Also, AMD GPUs are about to become available (for about 3 minutes before they're sold out, much like nVidia's ones), so it may be worth waiting for those. Tomorrow at 4:00PM the embargo lifts and we will see benchmarks and so on which will give us an idea about their relative performance and price/performance vs nVidia, so it might be worth waiting for that.

As a note, I have a Palit 1070 and it's been totally fine, though I think the Gigabyte will likely be a better part overall.

I chose that one only because I have it and I love it. It's also one of the best in terms of thermals, before you start getting into big-money territory.

Ahh okay I see. Thanks man. Yeah alright I'll give a bit more thought to the GPU. If you dont mind me asking, why do you think the gigabyte one is cheaper than the asus one?

Yeah, you make a good point about the AMD GPU's, ill probably wait a bit then and see whats up.

Thanks again for the help.

I think Gigabyte GPUs usually sell for a bit less than ASUS ones, not sure though. Just keep in mind, none of those cards are in stock right now. Stock is expected 20 November and will sell out within probably 30 minutes, so if you want one, pre-order it ASAP.

AMD GPUs will only be available I think from the 28th (might be wrong) which means we may or may not get them here before Christmas. Maybe someone else has more info on this but they won't be available to actually purchase for a bit. Not sure how much of a rush this is for you.

There are some sellers on Carbonite* for all the new gear at reasonable prices.

Half the fun is building your own pc.
5600x
B550 or x570 motherboard of your choice.
16 or 32gb of ddr4. 3200mhz is fine, you won't notice the difference going higher especially in gaming.
Gpu is a tough one. 3070 is fine if you sticking with 60fps at 4k across titles. The Palit 3080 has good reviews so if you want to pay that little extra it won't be a waste in the long run.
Anything around 600W+ for power supply.
Case and SSD/HDD of your choice. Just make sure it is compatible with your motherboard.

I do agree, I just dont wanna mess anything up since it would be my first time >.<

Any videos you would recommend?

I've always had trouble in the past buying stuff online and it not working. So my thinking was like if they build and test it then I dont have to go through all the hassle of troubleshooting and figuring out what doesnt work... unlikely as it may be.

There are plenty out there... This is just an example.

If you are not 100% comfortable rather have them build it for you, especially if you are going to spend R35k on it. I have assembled a few of my own pc's, so I built my own one during lockdown again. Against all odds the cpu was faulty out the box. If you don't have other parts to test with and find the fault it gets really frustrating. And wasted many weeks to send it back and have it replaced.

Hey man, I was wondering if you had any recommendations on a monitor ? :)

I was currently looking at the 1080p 24inch AOC.
But I was thinking maybe I should go for a higher res one

If you're going 3070 or 3080 then get yourself something 1440P or 4K with G-Sync.

High refresh rate monitors are nice to have if you're playing FPS games, but they come at a premium.

I'm not all that clued up on monitor panel types etc. so maybe someone else can help with this one.

1440p or 4k. You can go for a gsync compatible monitor and not pay premium for gsync.

List here:

High refresh rate is a must. The spec you going for will be pushing out alot of frames and it would be wasted on a 60hz monitor.
