Heck, then when you got the correct fan layout and amount needed. You've got to make sure you install the correct one's.
Static pressure fans for radiators and mesh, airflow fans to move a lot of air in open spaces etc.

It's all fun stuff
Enjoyable and satisfying I'm sure, but finding the time... :crying:

Hey guys I have bitcoin profits and want to either upgrade my PC, build an ITX mini tig or sell the PC and buy a gaming laptop (Asus g14 on amazon).

Specs below:

Antec VP500P, 500w
Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK8GX4M1A2400C14, 8GB, DDR4-2400, CL14, Black x 2
Kingston UV400 SUV400S37/240G, 240GB, 2.5", SATA6G, Read/Write: 550/490MB/s
Scandisk 1tb ssd (will keep if I upgrade / go itx mini)
Gigabyte 1660 super 6gb single fan (will keep if I upgrade / go itx mini)
Intel i3-9100f
MSI H310M PRO-VH PLUS Micro ATX Motherboard (LGA 1151)(H4)(Intel H310)
Cooler Master MasterBox 3 Lite MCW-L3B2-KN5N - Black/Silver
Asus DRW-24D5MT Internal Dvd Write

Firstly is the system balanced or is the CPU / Mobo holding back the performance ?

I mainly play dota, counter strike and COD Cold War & Warzone. I don't need 100+ fps on all the latest titles but would like to average 60-70 FPS on high settings for most new games over the next couple of years. Any recommendations ?

What's your budget? It's easier working with that for a bang for buck system.

If I sell my Pc 25k for a laptop. If I keep the Gpu and ssd probably around R10-11k

Haha ok, I have 3 options.

1. Sell PC as is, buy a gaming laptop.

2. Keep the Ssd and Gpu, by an itx mini case, mobo, PSU, ram and cpu. Budget 10-12k

3. Just upgrade the CPU and Mobo in my current case budget R 6000-7000

1. No. Not easily maintained. Money wasted. Bad Dog!

2. You want to game, miniturising your PC isn’t going to help. (Yeah, me too. )

3. Yes. Quad core is on its way out, I can’t tell you when exactly, but the new consoles have what, 8 cores 16 threads? That’s going to be what game developers target. So I think a CPU upgrade is prudent. You could either do a mobo and CPU upgrade to Ryzen, or maybe just replace the CPU , but that is more an office mobo you have there considering VRM etc. so I vote Ryzen.
Since the GPU still has some life in it, I’d hold on to the money you have left for a while and save up some more until you can afford maybe a 3060 (nVidia will possibly unveil tomorrow). Then you’re good. Probably even for 120fps in Warzone. Expect it to be about ~R8k

4. Buy a console instead and continue to play CS:GO at 200fps on your current rig. Best value you’re going to get for R11k but have to be willing to put up with the controllers. Ugh.

Console is the long term goal 1 - 2 years, just wondering if the system is balanced as I still want to use it for FPS and RTS. Need something portable for traveling that is why I was looking at a laptop but might get a surface pro or 11.6 inch laptop instead.

Oh I see. Well, I would say... it's fine. For now. Looking at the CPU benchmarks I don't think you're being held back in any major way. Here's what I found:

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War PC Performance Review & Optimisation Guide | CPU Performance - Core Scaling - how many cores do you need? | Software | OC3D Review (overclock3d.net)
Call of Duty: Warzone PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide | CPU Performance - Do you need a crazy CPU to run this game? | Software | OC3D Review (overclock3d.net)

You can actually do 60fps on ultra on 1080p, probably 1440p if you enable dlss
That's without ray tracing of course.
Ye, I'm just making fun.

I can do _mostly_ 60fps, with 1440p, RT lighting and reflections on (medium), DLSS on performance and the rest of the settings mainly in the medium range. I do still get drops below 60 when things get busy though.

I personally would go with option 3, and then just play much less demanding games when travelling. That of course depends how long you are away from home with enough spare time to game. I don't find the idea of a gaming laptop to be a good compromise at all as almost all of them are just different levels of slow. Especially in the sub-R40K range.

Does anyone else have a Gigabyte 3080 Eagle/Gaming Pro card? Apparently there's still issues with the power pin connections to the card where they can get misaligned or pushed into the enclosure, (like this), even on the cards with the "fix".

Wondering if I should switch to another card (if one comes in stock on Wootware since I'm getting most of the components from there), the power pins issue seems like a pain to deal with. Heading back home next week so my delivery with Wootware is scheduled for then.

I got the 3070 Gaming X Trio. Obviously that's not a 3080, but in terms of build quality, it's pretty damn good and it cools well. I'd consider MSI cards if I was you. I got mine from Progenix.

I've decided to just bite the bullet and get the card, barely anything else has come in stock on Wootware. If the card is buggered I'll just have to RMA it I guess (hopefully it isn't)

Specs for the build if anyone's interested:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 5 RevB (From Amazon)
GPU: Gigabyte 3080 Eagle OC
Mobo: B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (Got this from Tekku)
Case: Meshify 2 White Clear Tempered Glass (Wanted the Meshify C but it's a bit too small for these large 3080s)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2x16) 3600 CL16
PSU: Superflower 750W Leadex III Pro 80+ Gold (Wanted the 850W for some more headroom but was out of stock when I placed the order. 750W should still be fine, don't plan to OC for now)
Storage: Sabrent Rocket 1 TB PCIE Gen 3 (main drive), Rocket Q 1TB, and a 2TB Seagate HDD

Plan to use it as a gaming and workstation PC for coding, ML, and CFD for my PhD studies.

GN Steve on the AMD CES keynote: So pointless it might start rolling away.
