Rig looks good. Only one thing i would have changed is the SSD. I would have gone with a OCZ Vertex 4 128GB. Much Faster.

Tks kryptonpc, the resean i went with the sandisk extreme was bcos of the pcformat review. After i had ordered it i found out abt the vertex 4. I wonder if i can send it back for the vertex 4? I havent opened it, ordered it from nivo.

Hi guys,

Im new to posting anything in this forum but I have done quite alot of reading on here. What do you guys think of new in progress build:

>Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5ghz (Receieved delivery)
>Asus ROG Maximus V Formula (Waiting delivery)
>Corsair Dominator 8gb (2x4gb) 1886mhz (Waiting delivery)
>Asus GTX680 Directcu II Top (Still to order)
>Corsair AX850w Pro power supply (Received delivery)
>Corsair 600t special edition white (Still to order)
>Sandisk Extreme 120gb SSD (Received delivery)
>Corsair H100 water cooler (Still to order)
>Samsung S23A950D (Waiting delivery)

Any views are appreciated by a noob like me. :)

Thanks

This advice is already to late but here goes. I recently bought a Corsair AX850, but I am not sure what the "w" stands for on your build but if you are going for a silent build that psu will not allow it, except if you are lucky and get a proper one. It makes the most awful buzz under 3d load. I thought something was wrong with it and took it back to Evetech where I bought it and they said it is normal. They even let me listen to the other builds using similar Corsair psu's and they also had the buzzing although not as loud as mine. Do a google for "AX850 buzz" and you will see what I mean.

Other than that the psu is very nice, being modular really helps with cable management in the 600T case. The fan only comes on under extreme heat and load, actually I am yet to see the fan come on. I have to mention that for some reason since last night the buzzing sounds a bit softer or maybe I am getting used to it.

Anyway, enjoy the rig, I reckon its gonna fly!

I hope you are aware that the ASUS GTX 680 Direct CU TOP is a triple slot card if you're thinking of adding a second card later on or a couple of PCIe devices it might prove a little problem for space although the 600t has 8 slots you might wanna look into that

Jip, tried that but didn't work, but here's an interesting development:

So my 2nd GTX 670 came today (Gigabyte WF3) and after installing it and setting up SLi my AX850 is dead quiet under load. I only hear the buzz when the gpu's are stressed ~30-40% or when running only one card. So there you go, install a second gtx 670 to kill the buzz! :)

Tks Jacques, im now a bit worried abt the psu. I thought id really done my homework with the parts. Hopefully the psu i got from is not that bad. I havent started the build, im waiting for my mobo from rebeltech, they've been processing my order since tuesday.

I know that i saw a youtube video that had almost the same rig im setting up and they mentioned that you can have 2 direct cu top in sli on the 600t. It might prove a problem later on when i wanna install an additional pcie device like u mentioned. Any advice anyone if there's an alternative card that i can use? It has to be just as fast or close as the direct cu top. I wanna game in 120hz hence the sammy. Tks

In terms of quality and performance I think the AX850 is very good, only thing is that it might not be silent, so I won't stress to much.

Great build Subways81, only recommendation would be opt for an ASUS P8B75 @ R1052 instead of a MSI Z77A-G43, other than that perfect :)

What do you guys think Specs & Price? want to place order tomorrow. Also can any one recommend prophecy? First time buying a pc online but have seen a few mentions here over the years of them.

Prophecy.co.za - Computer Hardware, Software, Accessories, Peripherals.jpg

Edit- Want to replace some noisy fans on one of my other pc's, what 120mm fan?
Is this Zalman fan really worth R150?? Also got told the BE Quiet

I can get fans for at least half the price, so is the extra money worth the loss in noise?

Haha, just checked the MultiTasker Build, looks like you did your homework ;)
I read a bad review about the 12v rails on the Silverstone PSU's though, something about them not being stable/under powered, not sure if this is true? PSU is pretty much the only place I can save some dosh, which id like to pump into the LCD, turns out IPS LCDs are a little more then budgeted for :rolleyes:
