I recently found a couple of videos made by Autobild in Germany where they get cars that were in use for 100,000 or 200,000 kilometers and then take them apart and see how well they stood the test of time and mileage. It is pretty nifty and handy, for example they did a 100,000km inspection on the Duster and uncovered some rust on the outside while the interior lasted fairly well.

Of particular interest to me recently was how well the Astra H did, and it was nice to see that especially on the inside it did much better than the Golf 5, which as you would expect, got much praise for it's perceived quality when launched. Guess that is why they call it perceived quality as perceptions can be, and often are, wrong.

Search around on Youtube and you will find more videos from Autobild doing high mileage inspections.

That depends solely on the driver that put the mileage on the car and the area. Trek hom deur jou gat en die beste sal nie hou.

+1, ****ty driver at the coast who neglects maintenance versus meticulous car enthusiast in JHB.
