Proteas being made more of a joke almost weekly now. I mean FFS, this local tournament they're trying...AGAIN!...vs playing on the big stage in the ODI CWC!

I'm trying to see the reasoning behind this, but I can't.

They say sustainability and it doesn't make sense because now you are bringing back the players that already made it to the Proteas back for T20 domestic when they could go on a play against another nation and the new up and coming talent can be showcased in the domestic challenge. Instead, you fill the teams with Proteas and then the new fresh talent gets excluded from the domestic series.

I don't know this thing stinks and it stinks of incompetence and corruption.
 
Unfortunately you won't make a success of it unless your best players is available. That's what the crowds want to see. Take India's top players out of the IPL and see how that goes (India might be a bad example, cause they're cricket mad :D ) . Same for BBL. Same happened here to rugby... the Currie Cup has been reduced to the 3rd teams playing against one another while the others are on URC (and previously Superrugby) duty. Yes, exposure to those guys, but not doing anything regarding ticket sales.

Going back in time, I remember watching Pretoria playing Police on Loftus C field, having the likes of Thys Lourens and co playing club rugby :) A young Kallie Knoetze was playing for Police at the time I think.

The sponsors and owners want the best players. See India going off for international cricket during the IPL?

CSA offered 4 alternative dates to AUS, all 4 were refused.

The financials are really compelling. CSA earns $2 million for going to the world cup. Projections for this new t20 league if it's successful is a profit of $56 million over 10 years.

Do also remember the only tour CSA makes money of is India.

A successful t20 league is vital for sustainability of the domestic game.

He's always done well at franchise/domestic cricket. I remember that people were calling him the next Kallis when he was still a teenager. He's been given quite a few opportunities at international level but has not yet quite excelled yet but granted he is still only 24. Amla really only became world class around 25-26 and same with De Villiers.
