CSA to Test cricket and effectively killing it. Thanks IPL! And the Indian IPL companies that bought all our teams. They effectively own CSA now.

Was only the local tests cancelled in Feb / March, I see we still playing Australia in December correct?

But not the ODIs...remember, the SA IPL comes first so we forfeit 30 points and look set to have to qualify for the CWC next year.

Like i said. Its time for ODI cricket to ride off into the sunset.
3 formats just isnt sustainable anymore IMO.
Then The Hundred needs to duck. T20 is bang-bash stuff and fun for a few hours. Proper cricket, as in Test cricket, never needs to go anywhere.
ODIs are still valid. Not everyone wants to watch T20. Then the T10 will become more mainstream when India picks up on that etc.

tbh i dont think ODIs are still valid, theyve just become a longer version of t20. Scrapping ODIs will make place for both more tests and more T20 IMO.
50 overs just isnt as watchable anymore.

Everyone should play everyone home and away, 3 tests, 3 t20s so that we can have a fair reflection of whats what in the sport.

Pig3 only playing each others results in only them getting to shine, getting the money, and talent wasted. The game isnt growing.

T20s became a shorter version of ODIs...not the other way around. :)

T20s are taking over thanks to the cricket mafia in India. It's why they've bought teams from RSA and in the West Indies. They control cricket internationally and it's only going to get worse.

T20 STARTED as a shorter form of ODIs. but with that happening, ODIs have morphed into what i described. And its just not appealing anymore. Drop ODIs, keep t20. but there isnt space for both short formats to continue.

T20 has so much potential to grow the game internationally because the format is shorter, and more action packed. Use that as a way for countries to get a foot in the door. then have them graduate to tests.

I want to see a full on 16 team t20 WC, no qualifiers. Make it like a football world cup

ODIs couldn't morph into anything other than being ODIs. T20 is the shorter format. Not the other way around no matter how you try to spin it.

ODI cricket is not the way ODI cricket was. All of the efforts to make it a more watchable product have failed. \
(flat pitches, bigger bats, smaller boundries, 2 balls, power plays etc)
just scrap it. We got the best out of ODIs in the 90s and 2000s but its over now. lets move on, with an aim to preserve and increase the quality of test match cricket.

3 formats have meant early retirements, players not reaching potential and audiences being shortchanged. Somethings got to give.

but ja... #pig3

Those who are crying about the t20 league please tell us how your financing the entire SA cricket eco system. Without the t20 league to finance it cricket faces a very uncertain future. CSA and the provinces are struggling financially.

We all would love to see more test cricket but CEO needs to look after the whole system not just the national men's team.

T20...pitches only served up for batsmen. Smaller boundaries for those 6s to flow. 6-over power play.

Going to get worse and worse...come back to this post one day.

1. First line is just dumb and rhetorical. Ask the people who placed CSA in this precarious situation over the years where franchise cricket was well attended and supported (remember each stadium having a shop where you could buy jerseys, shirts and cricket kit etc...) to what it is now where people hardly know who is playing.

2. CSA and the provinces are struggling financially - who do you blame? Supporters? Hell, as I said, franchise cricket (and definitely provincial cricket) was always well supported. Blame CSA and people running cricket in this country with zero love of the game other than their own selfish interests for the mess it's in. Go ask your questions there.

T20 wc squad announced. Andile, fortuin and jansen are the subs who travel with the squad. Rassie is injured for 6 weeks so miss out.
