Lets watch him in the SA20 against our best and some international talent then fans can make a more informed decision, I would play him now as its like our current starts are shooting the lights out.
 
Should Enoch Nkwe "do a Rassie Erasmus" and be the Director of Cricket and Head Coach for next year's World Cup in India?

Maketa may do well during the tour to Australia next month, but the fact that he is only there on an interim basis probably means that other candidates are in contention for the full-time position.

However, Nkwe could just take the helm at next year's World Cup. Although his short reign as interim team director in 2019 was rather disappointing, he did take over a squad that was still reeling from a disastrous World Cup in England and Wales. Moreover, his record as a coach in domestic cricket is still impressive - especially the three trophies he won in 2018 with the Lions and Jozi Stars. He was probably right to be disappointed that Boucher was appointed as Head Coach ahead of him in 2019.

In addition, Nkwe can bring in a few assistant coaches, such as Maketa, with the intention that one of them will replace him as head coach after the tournament - similar to what Erasmus did after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Asking Nkwe to win a maiden World Cup trophy for the Proteas may be a tall order, but it could set South African cricket on a positive path. Considering how disastrous the last few tournaments have been for South Africa, what's the worst that can happen?

I suggested this in an earlier post, and i like the idea. At the time i think Ashwell Prince was in the picture (probably not now)
 
No. The director of cricket needs to look after the whole cricket system not just the national men team. You can't look after the system if you are only involved with one team.

I have serius reservations regarding the job rassie is doing as director. It seems he is only looking after the senior national team. We saw Paul deport resign in frustration due to no attention being given to the ladies 7 team.

Maketa is interm cause this time CSA will follow proper procedures and advertise the job and go through the proper process. Unlike what Smith did with the boucher appointment.
