Sad that this guy didnt get a crack at test level. His 1st class numbers were excellent when he was coming into the Proteas setup. At the time though our test team was pretty tough to get into...

Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has retired from international cricket with immediate effect.

Since making his international debut in 2016, the 33-year-old has represented South Africa across all three formats in 30 T20Is, 27 ODIs and three Tests. He has also featured in two World Cups.

Pretorius impressed in the T20I arena and holds the record for the best figures by a South African bowler in T20Is with his 5-17 against Pakistan in 2021. Later that year, he went on to pick up nine wickets in the T20 World Cup in the UAE. He also has 261 runs to his name at a strike-rate of 164.15.

Pretorius’ performances for the Proteas have earned him stints in leagues around the world including the IPL, the Hundred, Caribbean Premier League and most recently the inaugural SA20.

“A few days ago, I made one of the toughest decisions of my cricketing career. I have decided to retire from all forms of international cricket,” Pretorius said in a statement.

Vernon costing SA the semi final. He shouldn't have been selected but claiming he cost SA the semi final when only Imran Tahir had a better economy rate on the night is a straight out lie. CSA cost SA the game cause of the last minute interference that put mental strain on the team but vernon himself was in no way to blame. He played a good game under immense pressure. But let's blame him instead of csa, Dale going for 8.5, ab dropping the ball when completing a run out or jp&fudgie running into each other when trying to complete a catch. All of those have more blame then vernon.

Claiming Russel Domingo was only named coach cause he is poc and wasn'tqualified cause he didn't play international cricket. It's rather normal for the second in command to succeed the first in many organisations. Russel was Gary Kirsten assistant and had a fantastic record as coach of the warriors. To make out as poc appointment is complete bs. Do they write the same about Jake white and kitch christie in their rugby reports or does the international playing experience only apply to poc coaches...

Claiming Jacques Rudolph said he wanted to play for England after going kolpak. He never said this, if they wanted to use such a statement use duanne olivier. They also fail with Rudolph to mention the fact that he later cancels his kolpak deal and comes back to play for the proteas, they do this on multiple players.

There are many others but not going through each one but this should give you the gist of it.

Like i said, watch out for tha afriforum agenda but the stats shown are definitely interesting.

@stefan9 is 100% correct on the matters mentioned.

its easy to point at vernon for the loss but we forget that he didnt select himself. and he was actually one of the better bowlers on the day. Dale, who was the leader of the attack got tonked...

Coulda woulda shoulda doesnt come in to it.

Russell was a merit appointment IMO and was one of our best coaches... check his stats. So on that matter afriforum can suck a D

I was referring more to the stats than the opinion of the author/s. Have to temper that with your own reading and understanding of the issue. What is not really up for debate is that the administrators have gone about this completely the wrong way. They went for window dressing instead of providing facilities and opportunities for the masses. I am also sure there have been vast sums of money made available over the years to provide infrastructure. It just never reached the level where it was needed.

I wasn't doubting the stats or the fact that the way CSA goes about transformation is deeply flawed. But you lose credibility when you lie in the commentary in your report. No need for it to get your point across.

CSA has used a checklist/numbers approach instead of putting the work & resources in to promote cricket across the country. That is why the school side kids still 99% come from the private schools or former model c schools. There is very little effort to expand cricket beyond these.
