It's not like those guys as a group are exactly lighting up the scoreboard.
 
I can only assume the next few matches are about qualification for the CWC and the selectors don't want to risk throwing young and untried players into the deep end, hence the conservative selections. Hopefully, once we are confirmed qualifiers for the CWC, the selection net will be cast a little wider.

I'm not saying drop them all, I'm saying find some place for the younger guys. Where are we looking for the next AB, Kallis or Hash. AB and QdK made their ODI debuts at 21. Kallis was 22, as was Gibbs. Statsguru is broken so those are just a few off hand. The point is our selectors have stopped picking young players preferring to stick with older guys. That would be all good if the guys were dominating, but they're not. So make some space for the stars of tomorrow.

I agree but like I said earlier unlike QdK, Kallis AB, Gibbs no one is banging on the door hard enough for them to take notice.
Problem is - we're not playing enough domestic cricket for that opportunity due in large part to COVID, CSA archaic structure, corruption and budget.
Hopefully SA20 will bring in some much needed money and interest.

Which is why I think this platform of cricket is the best. Provides opportunities for all.

This is a little idiotic to be honest. Faf will be 39 soon and served his country well. Time to move on and make way for the young ones and we've seen some bright sparks during this SA20.

the young ones need a papa... and to be frank... Faf has still got it. (i dont think he ever lost it)
I can see him adding a heck of alot of value to the white ball teams

case in point.... Misbah ul Haq ;)

If hes good enough then hes young/old enough
