Yeah still young but I guess money talks. Hopefully he plays for Sa again definitely an asset for the world cup.

He won't play again. He is 33 and has made his choice. If he wanted to still play for SA he would have accepted the deals miller & rassie did.
 
That is a pity. I'm not sure I agree with Shukri though about players being available for all internationals. We might be better in bilateral games but might struggle in major tournaments if our best players are not available. Seems a similar decision to what SA Rugby did with the Boks. Allowing overseas players to play has weakened the domestic teams but made the Boks stronger.

You are probably right I just hpoe Fomo kicks in with the home World Cup approaching. Either way need t staart give the yuong guns expsure ni internatioinal cricket!
 
It is crazy to me that he wouldn't want to try play at home and win the 2027 world cup. I respect his decision but 2 more years can't be that bad?

Wait so you want players to drop in just for ICC tournaments without taking the time to gel with the bulk of the team?

Not only ICC tournaments, but allow players leeway to be available for say 60% or 70% of games/tours. That way we're forced to develop depth, and then pick strongest possible squad for tournaments.

Every one needs to be treated the same way. A team wins a tournament not individuals. If you let Klaassen do what he likes, why can't others? It becomes a headache to manage.

We tried that approach under Rob. Fans , board members and MyBB lads in this thread got hot under the collar due to bilateral results.

Weren't you one of those unhappy about the bilateral results under Rob? The Boks are always available for Springboks tests not only world cup and rugby championship games. Shukri doesn't care if they play league games as long as they are available for Protea games.

Weren't you one of those unhappy about the bilateral results under Rob? The Boks are always available for Springboks tests not only world cup and rugby championship games. Shukri doesn't care if they play league games as long as they are available for Protea games.

How many tests have Faf, Kwagga etc (the Japanese based players) played since the RWC?

Edit: Rassie used 49 players last year. If we work on a match day squad of 23, all of them in merit (except maybe Jaden). That's the equivalent of about 23 players in a cricket context. We don't have 23 players of in any of the formats who can hold their own at international level. That has te be built over time.

This is what confuses me about the guys who say we should follow the springboks. Unless they’re being rested all national players avail themselves. No cherrypicking. And then how do you decide who chooses what bilateral series to honour. Logically everyone is going to pick their pockets if the door is wide open to still play international cricket when they choose.

Rassie choosing not to always use them is not the same as not being available if he needs/wants them. They are available if he decides he needs them.
There will be times when Shukri decides not to call Miller & rassie but it will be his call.
The issue here was Klaassen wanted to be the guy who decides when he is available.

It's not like the Proteas calendar is fully booked.

Wish these guys would be more honest instead of the copy and paste generic answers they give.
