I have to say. The one thing I hated the most about the Kwid is that digital instrument cluster with the massive speed display. bleh. Call me old fashioned, but I like my needles.

Didn't know you were into drugs.

The Clio is the same. I got used to it.

Clio 4 has some analogue dials with just a big readout for the speed. The Kwid has zero analogue dials just an LED display for everything.

Ah ok, at least my rev counter is analogue. I'm yet to find the temperature gauge :)

I've always like Renault, and I've had a few of their cars which i found extremely reliable despite much negativity.

But this Kwid? Come on Renault! You've always been known for making vehicles with high standard safety spec and tech spec and now you release this abomination with no ABS and a EURO NCAP rating of "just kill yourself first, its easier".

Someone at Renault SA should be fired. In fact, a few people. Starting with upper management for letting it fly...

Renault Kwid Pricing comparison - India vs South Africa.

Once again, Renault SA are charging SIGNIFICANTLY higher prices here, compared to Renault India's pricing.

South Africans have never had any problem paying a fortune for mediocrity, can't fault Renault for taking their chances on this one.

I am of the Playstation Generation, and therefore wish my Clio 4 had the Kwid's LED display! :D

Needles are for old people and hippies.

i also see no need for dials. Unless i'm buying a retro car.

I want to see an exact readout in digital dials along with associated metadata shown on the display.

Audi one is *drool*..

Apparently it's possible to buy for any car a head up display
Plugs into the obd port and displays everything on the windshield.

How much of the price difference are due to taxes?

Not sure, but the Datsun Go is between 37-39% more expensive in SA than in India - depending on the model:

The Mahindra KUV 100 is between 35-42% more expensive, again depending on the model:

Whilst the Tata Bolt (hatch & sedan) are only between 24-37% more expensive, depending on the model.

So that fact that the Renault Kwid Dynamique costs just under 55% MORE in SA, compared to India, is a cause for concern, as ALL of these vehicles are Indian sourced and should therefore be subject to similar import / customs & excise duties.

RPM TV Kwid review

No mention was made at all of its extreme lack of even basic safety features, such as no ABS / EBD, no passenger airbag and manually adjustable rear seat belts - the only thing they pointed out was the lack of ANY interior adjustment for the exterior mirrors!

500 odd units sold in December...
Not bad for RenoSA and will keep the bank out of the red for most dealers.:o
