Last night I did some benching on the Raptors and a Seagate 250GB disk.

This was the standard 250GB Seagate disk on the onboard SATAII connector

Then I benched the 80GB 3.0 gbps 10K Raptor on the onboard SATAII connector

Then 2x80GB 3.0 gbps 10K Raptors on the Sunix 2400 in RAID0

Told you I still believe those raptors are faster. That raid makes a nice difference.

You must think because a hdd transfer's data faster that is infact faster for windows and what not, sure for video editing and what not it may be faster but windows and programs will run alot faster on a raptor.

May i ask why you used a raid card for raptors when your mobo more than likely can handle it?

No RAID on my mobo unfortunately. I am looking for one if you have one to offer. Must also support SLi.

Actually no, they do struggle with small files; it's a design flaw inherent to the architecture (as it stands today) ..you just have to (bother to) read up about it is all.

Cost a total of R1500

Drives were R1100 delivered and card was around R400.

Some people tell me that they cannot notice the difference between a normal 7200rpm and a raptor i think the difference is huge when you work with windows and what not.

Totally agree with you. People are unaware of the speed increase until the get a raptor raid setup. I miss them.
