Yeah can't believe they kicked it out playing against 14 with all the momentum pretty confused
Yeah, not like it's a world cup pool game where you may take a draw against NZ. What did they have to lose really by going for it

You have to go for the win but maybe they were scared to give away the penalty for off feet or holding on so decided to end it.

That said NZL threw a win away here.

If England had gone for it and lost at the end, the English media would have had a their knives for the English / Jones team as usual.

Watching NZL fans slam the ref on social media is quite funny. Call us the moaners but as soon as they are on the receiving end of bad calls it's not moaning.
That's strange..... the game I watched, England was on the receiving end of bad calls.

Wow assistant ref calls off side on a possible game winning maul for Australia and the replay shows nothing wrong.

Ireland kicks the ball out to win.

Name and Shame, who is this assistant ref and where is he from?

I keep harrassing the Australians on theroar.com.au telling them how it's a sin the Boks play rugby while Australia dishes up such marvelous games where they score 10 points in 80 minutes.

Must say I might have been to hard on the Boks, had very close games with two best teams in the world
but today you can see the difference between the top teams and the rest. We also seem to have some decent depth in all positions barring maybe hooker and full back.
We played extremely well. Why? Cause we played normal Springbok rugby and didn't kick the ball away every 5 seconds.

That's how it always is mos, Anglosphere can do what they want, we do the same thing and we're the bad guys.

It's how it always is...

/Anglosphere (UK, IRE, NZ, AUS) complains about reffing
/World Rugby cries and tackles the complaint posthaste or ignores it

/SA complains about reffing

WR and Anglosphere: "SHUURRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP SHUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPP, YOU ARE JUST BAD LOSERS. STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT REF"

Japan is doing many things right in this game, but damn, they lack speed. France is outpacing them. Japan's biggest problem is play making at the moment: the new starting 10 isn't as dynamic, but is stable.

I don't see Japan coming back now. They tend to become asleep when lagging behind. France is simply too good.

They are letting France in easily. France look comfortable playing.

I expect Japan to make some chances, so I won't be surprised to see an almost whole bench rotate. They have no play making in the back line, and when they do break, they have no support. I expect them to bring Matsushima and Nagare on to speed up the back line, so I expect centre/wing switches too. It is a bit desperate, but they need tries now. All they have is attack, and they need to maximise that.

EDIT: I see Japan haven't made any changes, yet.

Swinging the ball wide and producing running rugby has definitely not been normal for the Boks over the last number of years, unfortunately. F knows why not, because look at the results.

Finally, the Boks taking their chances and putting a team away when we have the upper hand. Great tries scored.
England is going to be tough after the way they came back against NZ. and not having some players available to us is a tricky one to balance.

Interesting stats. Cards given for the year 2022 season.
