Yes, as a long suffering Lions fan, that game was sublime. We are gonna have a tough game against the Stormers no doubt.
"A pity Stormers and Lions are playing against each other, maybe Stormers can throw the game to let them both through to the play-offs? :p" Let's hope

Even if the Lions don't make automatic qualification for the Champions Cup, they are setting the foundation for a proper attempt on the Challenge Cup next year. Hopefully a few prudent signings, keeping their core players and developing some much needed consistency will stand them in good stead.

SA Rugby “very happy” with transformation progress

The latest internal audit of SA Rugby’s Strategic Transformation Development Plan 2030 (STDP 2030) paints a picture of a sport tracking firmly in the right direction, said Mr Mark Alexander, president of the South African Rugby Union, on Monday.

“Overall, I am very happy with our performance,” he said. “The Provincial Unions all showed massive commitment and passed their self-determined targets. Team demographics are a challenge in some areas, but pathways are becoming better transformed, which is very positive for the future.”

The STDP2030 encompasses all areas of endeavour in rugby – including operations such as procurement, governance, staffing, committees as well as team demographics.

“Transformation is a process, and when you turn on the television and watch rugby at all levels, it is very easy to see the progress we are making on the field,” said Mr Alexander.

“What you don’t see are the other areas of diversity and inclusion that are advancing at a rapid pace and are covered by the STDP 2030, which focuses on access to the game, skills and capacity development, demographic representation, performance, community development and social responsibility, and corporate governance.

“That improvement is nowhere more obvious than at the level of our national teams where we have made ground-breaking strides under the leadership of Rassie Erasmus.

“Yes, we have targets for the Springboks in demographics, but we also have performance targets which we will not compromise, and we are definitely tracking in the right direction on both fronts.

“Misleading headlines are making a mountain out of a mole heap regarding the transformation outburst in the media, but our organization has a much broader lens through which to view the state of play.

“Inclusion is as equally crucial as is diversity, as it ensures that everyone is treated equally and has a voice in the team environment.

“Our commitment extends beyond diverse representation; we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture where every player, regardless of their background, feels valued and heard.

“The Springboks are the best players available in any calendar year to represent our country – they reflect the funnel of available talent and real progress is being made in creating opportunities and new heroes for every community.

“The Springbok team have contributed positively to social cohesion in our country. The recent honorary doctorate received by Rassie Erasmus was well-deserved, because he understands what it means to be a South African. He picks players based on what they can bring to the team and their commitment to one another.

“The STDP is a process with a finishing line in 2030. The annual reports are our way of measuring progress, celebrating success, and noting areas for eventual improvement.”

So Something funny/interesting. My son's school annually have a big clash with another school in town/city. Pretty big event yearly with lot of hype. The other school is much bigger and take their sport more serious.
Now for the senior teams the other school have a 4th team but son's school don't. So they asked all the boys that does not play sports to make a team just for the day. Son's says its mostly boys that gym etc. They had 3 x 30min practices and come the day, they beat the other schools 4th team 57-0

Lukhanyo Am ruled out of the final this Friday evening against Gloucester. The good news is he should be available for the Irish tour in July.

Story from my own days in highschool. The 1st team hockey decided to have a social rugby team, in those days, played as a sort of 3rd team, and often had matches against other schools who had a 3rd team.

During the season they ended up playing a friendly against the 1st team.... and won.... whoops.

Damian Willemse is out for four months, which is a blow for the Stomers and SA rugby but great for the lions.

I kinda hope they bring in some new blood Willemse is good but when he is bad he is terrible. Need someone who can be the level head going forward.

They will probably opt for experience and use Willie le Roux. That is if he doesn't get an injury and/or the Bulls don't make the finals for the URC.

He's been playing at 12. Isn't Sacha the heir apparent?

Willemse hasn't been playing at 15 all season. Gelant has been a machine there for the Stormers. Picking a Springbok 15 there's obviously Willie and then I'd rate Faasie as next in line.

Fassie sorted out the issues that knocked him out the Bok circle though? Cant say I think so after this season:unsure:

Kaas en wyn span.

My school's 4th team played the school's hockey team and also lost back in the day.

I totally missed that. Sucks for everyone involved. Although the more I see of Rassie the more it's clear he's a phenomenal rugby man, but not the most amazing human,
Not the most amazing human? So a normal human, not a god? Or implying something else?
