Wow, kak second half by the boks, but at least we got the bonus point.

What needs to happen now for us to take the championship?

Today's bp saved us from total ignominy and a slim outside chance to take the championship, or win silver...last week we were at the bottom of the log.

As it stands currently:

Decent performance our rush defence just looked really shaky there was a massive overlap 3 times if Argentina could swing the ball we would have been in big trouble. Wonder who is going to play No. 10 next week?

Hmm, not sure. Smart money would probably be on Frans to start at 10 with Willie maybe shifting there later in the game. I'm not sure who else is in the squad but I can't see them bringing in a specialist 10 like Bosch or Libbok at such a late stage. It would be quite a risk.

They'll probably give Willemse until the very last minute to prove his fitness and then make a call.

Pretty sure he has a concussion so with new protocols can't play for 3 weeks. Will probably be Steyn with Willie as back up as you said. Bench probably a 6 2 split again.

Poor discipline in the second nearly cost us this game. Need to be much better.

Between us and NZ, whoever wins the last game with a bonus point takes it.

If we both win with bonus point then NZ will probably take it with points difference.
If I'm not mistaken the first tie breaker is the PD between the two teams that are level. We lead the head-to-head over NZ on PD.

Okay no,

It's the other way round.

This from Wiki:

If teams end level on points for any position, the first tiebreaker is total number of wins in the competition, then number of wins against the other team/s tied on points, then overall points differential, then points differential between the team/s tied on points, then most tries scored in the competition. If that can't differentiate the team, the series or position will be shared.

So assuming we both win our next games then we'd be even on championship points, even on number of wins, even number of wins between us and NZ, so yeah - will come down to points differential if I have my facts straight?

Yes,

If that's still even then they will look at tries scored.

Moral of the story, NZ will target a big win as they will not leave anything to chance.

Avg winning margin for NZ over Australia at Eden Park since pro era or such is 34-14.

As unlikely as it seems, Australia can still win this championship. Beat NZ with a BP whilst denying NZ a BP and hope Argentina avenge their loss from last week. Throw in their controversial loss this past week and hopefully motivation for them is high to go out there and give it horns.

So can Argentina.

They just need to beat the boks by 85 or more points, get a bonus point, prevent us from getting a bonus point and have the Aus vs NZ game declared a no result.

Sbu Nkosi and Kurt-Lee Arendse back in the frame for this Saturday's crunch match. Willemse definitely confirmed as unavailable.
