The Rugby thread

They are waking up to how incredibly condescending some of the NZ & AUS scribes can be, believing their free-flowing way of playing rugby is the only way the game should be played.
Ok, but the two people's videos you posted aren't 'waking up' though. These guys have NEVER been of the mindset you imply.

They've always known and have regularly for a long time have spoken out about it and showed no support for such nonsense from NZ and Aus scribes/coaches calling for one style or whatever.

They just went off at JK now (i.e dedicated videos about this time) cause somehow the bloke has managed to get even worse (attacking NZ teams now) and they sick of it.

I am risking divorce and bankruptcy and doing a full on rugby tour this year.
Already got tickets for the Ireland Loftus game, then gonna do a trip down to Durbs for the next Ireland game before a quick Bloem getaway. Will then do one of the New Zealand games, probably JHB side.
I figure this year, being back to back world champs, it doesn't really matter the results, it's basically an appreciation tour. I mean I'd play the youngsters, throw in Fassie what have you, let's experiment a bit. But yeah looking forward to it all.

I also see they want to bring back the tours to New Zealand where you play 3 tests plus midweek county teams.

And got Durban tickets.
Look out Durban ladies, there's a group of married middle aged men coming to town...
... who are probably going to spend Saturday night singing 90s hits in the lounge of their holiday apartment until they pass out at around 10.

You could sweat yourself thirsty in 30 min and there would be no need for drink. Pass out same time from heat.

Springbok Vs Ireland tickets (Hollywood bets Kingspark) on sale at ticketpro for FNB and dstv customers (EARLY ACCESS) as of this morning. For everyone else it opens on Monday morning.

I was checking out match history stats for various teams the last 10 years and things are interesting.

Ireland have positive winrate against all 3 SH giants over the last 10 years:
Ireland vs South Africa (71.4%)
Ireland 5 wins
South Africa 2 wins

Ireland vs Australia (83.3%)
Ireland 5 wins
Australia 1 win

Ireland vs NZ (55.5%)(1/4 final final brought it back from 62.5%, almost 2/3rds in Irelands favour)
Ireland 5 wins
NZ 4 wins

And interestingly, appears Ireland have become South Africa's boggie team, with that very poor winrate. Since Rassie took over, Boks have a 50-50 winrate against NZ while not having beaten Ireland even once (albeit only 2 matches over the period).

They are an annoying side to play against. We always struggle at the breakdown v them.

They have also been good at exploiting our rush defense.

Before that, we were absolutely annihating them stats wise. Been a definitive switch in their fortunes since 2014. Seems Schmidt and then Farrel have turned that ship proper for Ireland.

A lot to do with the structures they put in place and centralising. Using a NZ-like model. David Nucifora gets credit there too.

Also a lot to do with the fact that most of those games were in Ireland. Since 2000 we played them 15 times, 9 times in Ireland (won 3), 5 times in SA (won 4) & last year's WC pool game in France.

So yes, just looking at the last 24 years gives a slightly different picture. Traditionally we also tour there at the end of the year during their winter when the weather is shite and have to play them in conditions that their used too and thats foreign to us.

They have made decent progress and have put excellent structures in place. All helped by the fact that they are geographically a small country with only 4 major teams/provinces which helps in getting everyone on the same page.

We are in for a excellent tour if they bring their best team and we have our best players from everywhere available.
