4080 is going to be pretty insane if those "2-4 times faster than 3080 ti" specs are true

Yea but as always, it's just vague nonsense.

2-4 times faster at what? Most likely RTX with DLSS 3.0. Rasterization is the main performance metric gamers need and they haven't said a thing about it.

Looks like EVGA got out at the right time (or maybe too late depending on what they have in their warehouses) - any AIB holding onto 3090 or 3090 Ti stock is going to have to sell below that 4080 price point. Nobody is going to buy last gen if they can get the newer stuff cheaper or at the same price.

And EVGA were already losing money when the 3090 \ 3090 Ti were well over a $1000.

Exactly. I wonder if they'll be the last to ditch. I somehow doubt it.

- RTX 4090: $1599. Available October 12th. Promised performance of up to 2x a 3090Ti. 850W PSU.
- RTX 4080 16GB: $1,199. Promised performance of up to 2x a 3080Ti. 750W PSU.
- RTX 4080 (12GB): $899. Promised performance of more than a 3090Ti. 700W PSU.
OK so all those early rumours of massive power requirements for the 40 series was maybe just to get people to bite the bullet on 30 series for those that don't/didn't have high capacity PSUs//.

I think we need to see. That's a massive uplift in CUDA cores, I'd be surprised if it's using the same power, I reckon they'll be more power hungry. Factor in transient loads and I reckon the overall usage will be higher.
 
Meh their pricing sucks.
Will see what AMD has to offer , else current-gen (3080ti / 6900xt) will have to be my next uograde.
 
AMD's RDNA 3 announcements will only drop on November 3rd, and they also claimed a remarkable improvement as stated yesterday,
