Free Wi-Fi in South Africa: Promise versus reality

The SA Connect project, designed to provide free high-speed Internet connectivity access to underserved communities, rural areas, and government facilities, has overshot its deadlines.

The South African cabinet approved the project in 2013, and its first phase kicked off in 2018, with Broadband Infraco and the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) tasked with the initial rollout.

I really need to stock up on more popcorn, the amusement factor with the daily reporting on the government's failures is second to none, yesterday, an article about Ramadingdong's high speed rail project failing to launch, and now another project, first approved in 2013, cannot even come to fruition. This ANC government is the laughing stock of Africa.
