To be fair I believe they did very well. Not only did they recover 2019 losses - they successfully fended off the PA and ASA as well.

I was chatting to a DA party agent at my Park Run today - the IEC official wanted to discard the vote because the person had written an "O" instead of an "X" on the ballot paper, even though there were no other discrepancies. He was successful in his appeal. So it's not always as straightforward as sometimes perceived. Of course, some of those also deliberately spoil their ballot...
 
As much as i despise the ANC, hopefully they take this on the chin and use it as motivation to reform themselves somewhat, because longer term the DA needs a reasonable partner to help govern given the realities in this country. We don't want a situation where the black majority are forced to choose between the DA or MK/EFF, because that choice will not go how we want it to. The rural vote and moderate blacks need a home which isn't seen as a "white" party.
 

MK says it will only negotiate with parties willing to give Zuma a presidential pardon​

Former president, Jacob Zuma’s MK party, which is poised to become the third largest political party in the country has vowed not to negotiate with the “ANC of Ramaphosa” and would only form a coalition with like minded movements that would be willing to change the Constitution.

Nhlamulo Ndhlela, MK party spokesperson, speaking to media at the IEC’s National Results Operations Centre in Midrand said that any party wanting to negotiate with them must be prepared to change the Constitution to repeal apartheid legislation such as the Irrigation Act which currently forces government to buy water from private dam owners.

In addition, he said that any negotiation to form a government must be pegged on giving Zuma a presidential pardon so that he can take a seat in the National Assembly and be eligible for the presidency.

Very true. Also staved of the continues attacks from main stream media, leftist political commentators, woke media influencers, etc. No other party was attacked and ridiculed as much as the DA by these so called commentators/experts. Some of them already suffering copium withdrawal symptoms.

Lol. Cope harder. Rise and Bosa performed well below expectations, especially the former which got (a) fawning press coverage from the founder's press colleagues and (b) stacks of money well in excess of what most new parties receive. Just deal with it. That's all.

I'm not sure which 'swart gevaar' tactics you are speaking of - certainly the only race-baiting I heard came from the Rise Mzansi's WC premier candidate.

I heard none. But you heard it because that's how you interpret any criticism of the DA

Dude, most DA okes on here said if DA hits 24%+, lovely. But the main objective was beating 2019. And they did.

Swart gevaar. LMAO.

Btw those centre-left parties which bragged about becoming the 5th biggest party after elections (RISE), their party getting two million votes (Maimane)... did nothing of the sort

Also, I doubt all of those parties getting <1% nationally each is a massive achievement...
