The SA Politics Thread Part 6

I might be daft but so far I'm somewhat positive about the GNU. I just hope good reforms and policies can come out of the upcoming lekgotla.

Also, I wonder how ministries will be divided since we can then pinpoint who to blame in 2029 if things don't improve...

Well, if SA can’t make a GNU work, then nothing will save us. But like you, I’m hopeful things will improve and I can return one day to retire.

Lol...

Now imagine how hard it is going to be now that Annelie Lotriet is the Deputy Speaker of parliament. We might wake up next week and John Steenhuisen is the Deputy President of South Africa. And let us say Parliament impeaches Cyril Ramaphosa. Cyril will now come to the black corner and say ‘ah, but guys, if you are impeaching me, you must say that John must be President’.

I worry that the number of cabinet ministers and deputies will be bloated to satisfy all parties to GNU.
The 1%ers will probably get deputy positions. They don't bring enough clout to warrant anything more.

IFP is punching above it's weight purely because of KZN...

Racists like this need to retire and live out their hate-filled lives somewhere surrounded by black yes-men musing about how they hate white people.

This bit disgusts me:

"I say to a daughter of one of my white colleagues – young twenty year old – and I say to her what you and your family have today is a product of theft. And if you’re going to sit with me here and we have dinner I must be able to say that to you twenty times or more than that. And you, on your own, when you go to bed, you must assess how that makes you feel. You must know that your presence in Africa… you were not touring, you were here to conquer, to kill. And the constitution they celebrate disavows some of these things, colonial horrors.”

Leave the 20 year olds alone. They are the future, you are the past. Full of hate and angst. Useful for nothing.

Remember that they don't necessarily have to be accommodated in cabinet or as deputy ministers, there's also committee chairs in parliament, I think the smaller parties are mostly going to be accommodated there.

Imagine PAC chairing committees.
