The SA Politics Thread Part 6

[¯\_(ツ)_/¯]

We seem to have lost some extremely active participants in this thread. Anybody knowing anything about power outages or ISP issues?

what happened to our kampioen ?

he has gone from most prolific poster to unseen ?

I raise you this ...

WRAP | Lesufi forms minority Gauteng Cabinet with ANC, IFP, PA and Rise Mzansi - but no DA | News24

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced the Members of the Executive Council for the seventh administration on Wednesday evening.

MK doing some real damage to the ANC

[ToxicBunny]

Probably asked before, but if the ANC does not get 50%+nationally do they still get to choose a president?

Nope, they have to convince other people to vote for their choice.

The resident political journalist is also MIA.

Other people who will want plenty in return.

Other people who will want plenty in return.

Pretty much yes.

After the results are finalised, the horse trading will start in earnest.

[Hotfuzz]

Are we really surprised though?

Even ASA is not doing well.

If spoilt ballots garner more support than your party then its time to throw in the towel. Its embarrassing considering all the noise

[Nom Chompsky]

@ToxicBunny what is your useless municipality up to? Not a single voting station recorded in eThekwini, I want the DA share of the vote to increase there dammit!

It seems standard for this lot for some reason, 2019 and 2021 were the same with almost everyone else reporting in some level of numbers, and only much later did eSchitweni bomb a vast amount of data into the system

That's actually a fair statement.

After all the hype Rise can't even better Aunty Pat. What a waste of time and resources

@xcaliber are these the "challengers" you were talking about?

I must admit that MK must have a brilliant ground game. From Twitter one would assume that Rise and BOSA would do brilliantly while MK wouldn't look great.

Tweets don't equal votes and many voters don't seem to tweet.

uBaba has good ground game as vile as he can be. It's exactly how he has outlasted so many in the political game.

Honestly, the bottom half of the list annoys the living **** out of me. Totally unnecessary to have so many pointless parties with votes wasted on them.

I'm not so sure they necessarily had a brilliant ground game, more than populist recognition, and an avenue for voters to punish the ANC.

[6spdmanual]

It’s simple - the vast majority of the voting population isn’t on X retweeting and liking ****. Real life numbers will humble you if social media is your measuring stick.

Imagine how much money was spend on all of these campaigns combined.
