Well, got my modem finally, and well if you need help dont bother calling the helpdesk, they dont even know what is happening. cannot get the MTU size right, only page headers are comming up ?

praise the gods of gaming for this forum otherwise the world of wireless wil be a dark pit... Sentech is maybe the most useless company in the world (when it comes to their tech support). If they could get that right tehy would be AWESOME!!!

I noticed that all of your 120 postst are about fishing for costumers. Dont get me wrong nobody really cares, if you can score good on you. Frankly you just ticked me off with couple of things and than ur buddy johhny-c sems to be working in pair with you .Than you started flaming me cos you dint like somene questioning ur adgendas, so you got it right back.

Speaking of gaming, earlier today I got a minimum ping of 57ms when pinging www.sentech.co.za Now as I understand it, this is good enough for gaming. The problem is to get this every time. My point is that it is possible. I have only 20% signal so.. BTW the avg ping above was 95ms so its quite jumpy.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but according to UT2004 help, the game is designed to accomodate up to 300ms pings. So now whats wrong with 100ms then?
 
I'm on noone's (pardon the pun) side here but.. DblD, consider the new user or prospective forum member coming to the forum for the first time. He/she stops in quickyly to see what goes on in here. All this person would see is your conversational posting, opinions and flaming. This will inevitably turn them away and also away from the most valuable source of information for the MyWireless user. We dont want that. Please, nobody has a problem with your excessive posting. It is merely the context and content of your posts.

noone (the person) makes a lot of short or useless posts as well but thats fine since he does post a lot of useful or interesting stuff. Dont even bother trying to catch him, he lives on the forums and as such as gaining posts faster than you can and with his head start you dont have a chance.

Please answer this, do you even have MyWireless and if so, please let us know how its working out for you since you dont post any of your experiences or suggestions or even help anyone. I may be wrong but all your other posts are clouding my judgement.

Its no flaming war, yes its a public forum with very few rules and so on. Please dont tell us again. You see if we dont want to read it then leave, well this is the best and only place for MyWireless information. Why must we leave when its you wasting our time and offending our members? Please go carry out your frustrations or whatever in IRC. Somebody here can point you to a MyWireless chat group if that is what you are looking for.

Just for da record greedyflyza, i never sugested anyone leaves, what i suggested is skip my post as irrelevant, dont get worked up, and engage in longwinded debates.It's easy to distinguish who posts wut and if its valued oppinion or not.. after reading *** post from same person more than 3 times i skip his nexst post by default.Such is the nature of this beast.
For hinstance, i see Dean i dont even have to read he's lining up new customer, so i skip right over it.
is he doing service to couminity probably, does he care aobut it probalby not.

So in short no I dont have MyWi, and wont have one till May 27.

Okay we here you. Everyone understands how frustrating it can be.. But still theres no need for you to post so much when you dont even have MyWireless or havent even used it. Why not look into getting Wireless Online (www.wo.co.za) or something similar and report back for everyone. Luckily it doesnt carry a 24 month contract.

My point is that we dont want to turn people away or let them see that its a bickering forum.

And to noone (I can now see why he chose the nick), I didnt mean to say <i>useless</i> posts but rather "less-meaningful". Sorry to offend. You have the right to post junk since you post some *real* insights.

Finally, DblD please.. for the sake of everyone be so kind as to check your spelling. Even if english is not your first language please try not misspell so much. Its a bit tacky and shows poor respect for the forum and its members. It can get irritating. Just proofread before clicking "Post New Reply". The occasional few errors are ok but you seem to do it a lot and it contributes to you getting on *some* peoples nerves. Just a polite request - nothing more nothing less.

Yes English is my 8th Language, however I do sometimes miss spell delibertly, as to mimic sleng I find amusing. Like Carabian English, Ali G Enlish, Guido Hatzis English etc.

But I see your point, what is amusing to one can be quite irritating to other.

The wo guys to my understanding do not offer MyWi yet in CPT how can they when Sentech has not got the tower grid ready yet?
Or am i beeing ignorant of the facts?

Righto people, the latest update to my story.

I sent through the last of the documents as I said, and today I got an email (and when I recieved it I was fully expecting them to be requesting more documents); and it said that my application was awaiting credit check results, and that they'd call me once it was approved.

Well finally! At least now they aren't asking for more damn documents. I'd estimate another week and a half before we see the modem if we're lucky.

I'm hoping to have it now by the end of April... let's hold thumbs, shall we?

I got my modem about 3 days after the credit check, but your now slap bang in the middle of the Easter holidays, which is a bit of a bummer. Phone them again on Tuesday and then on Thursday and with a bit of luck you should have it before the 21st.

Keep bugging them and don't rely on the helpline - phone direct to thier offices. I phoned the fourways branch and spoke to a helpful lady called Shanti. I told her my application was very urgent as I needed the line for my business (which is true) - she was the most useful person I spoke to. The 0860 number is a total waste of time at the moment.

In connection with all the documentation you need to send them, I think it's the same as a standard cell phone contract ?

I admit I had my doughts (and still do) about the lengthy contract period. I'd rather pay more a month and have a 12 month contract. In terms of finances, I just sent them 3 months bank statements - nothing on there I have to hide, so it didn't bother me much.
 
I am assuming you applied in your private capacity.

We applied as a CC, and one of the things they requested were complete financial statements, OR an Auditors Report. Getting an auditors report was a lengthly process for me, so we sent them what we felt they needed to know from the financial statements, but they halted the application until we sent the rest or an AR.

It's not that we have anything to hide, it's just that financial statements are confidential, and most of the information contained therein doesn't concern sentech. When you demand this kind of information from your customers, you get their backs up.

I spoke to one of the people at the helpdesk, and he said that about 30% of companies are telling them to shove it when they start demanding stuff. The only reason we didn't was because it's so absolutely necessary that we get it - we're on 16k dialup, with call costs for the net being about R 1200+ a month (more than a quarter of the bill), and I refuse to support telkom by buying ADSL. In fact, I try to put as little money as possible into telkom by calling cell to cell, and yes I do know vodacom is 50% owned by telkom, but at least it's less.

When I get mywireless, I'll literally never be using telkom directly again. If enough people do this, maybe they'll learn that raping their customers wasn't such a good idea after all [:)]

Heck, when my old company (also a cc) applied for a R6000 per month diginet line, we didn't have to send complete financial statements ?

I guess they are trying to cover themselves, as so many businesses go under these days leaving huge debt.

Then again, it's not like they'll loose anything though ?
Just a contract for 24 months and they'll get the modem back anyway.
