The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shootings

Images are tragic :(

[Updated at 2:11 p.m. ET] CNN's Susan Candiotti has just reported that a law enforcement official tells her the suspect is named Ryan Lanza and he is in his 20s.

If my child were shot dead, I wouldn't be crying and hugging anyone ...

... I would be a raving lunatic that you have to shoot with a tranquilizer gun to keep me from hurting myself.

Watching CNN, can't believe what I am seeing. I am just numb. I mean what the hell, shooters in movie theaters, universities, high schools, and now elementary schools....what the fusk!

Awesome Christmas present for some of these parents... :(

Ye... but thats probably what happened anyway.

One dude started shooting then some other guy with a gun tried to take him out.

They really need stricter gun control laws. It has been a good year for crazy Americans with assault rifles. Bad year for the hordes of victims.
There will be two weeks of debates again and then the debate will fade away.

as always, there are those people who would use a tragic incident such as this as an excuse to implement policies which under normal circumstances, they would never have been able to implement.

if you want to fix the problem of these maniacs, then you must fix the society which lead to such a criminal being bred.

You are right, they should just keep selling arsenals to whoever wants them...

yet strict gun control did not stop Andre in Norway, the killings earlier this year in New York and many others similar incidents. If you look at the profile of these lunatics then it should be clear that they will go mad at any cost. The CIA needs to treat these cases as domestic terrorism, usually they are fueled by religious fanaticism.

Most US shootings have nothing to do with religious fanatics. Don't have time for debate now, but Americans gun culture and a sick society are equally responsible for these acts. Gun control is the first step here.

so that the police can have a monopoly on gun laws? I do not trust our local police to protect us, let alone our state to 'regulate' our guns.

and as I pointed out earlier, stricter gunlaws elsewhere did not stop these situations from occurring.

here is a lost of these worse massacures by an individual.
1) In July 2011, Anders Behring Breivik of Norway shot and killed 77 people, wounding 151. - there were strict gun laws

2) In April 1982, gunman Woo Bum-Kon of South Korea killed 57 and left 35 people wounded. He committed suicide at the scene. - once again strict gun laws

3)In April 1996, Martin Bryant shot to death 35 victims and wounded 21 others. - strict gun laws in Australia

4) In April 2007, Seung-Hui Cho of USA killed 32 people and wounded 25. Cho also committed suicide at the scene. - no gun laws

5) In Dec 986, Campo Elias Delgado of Colombia killed 30 and wounded 15 others. - no gun laws

as you can see, the absinthe or presence of gun laws, do absolutely nothing in stopping lunatics from killing people. What it does do however is disarm the public and everyone has a right to defend himself.

Isolated, but very serious cases in Australia, Korea and Norway... Does it happen often there? It happens almost monthly in the US.
