The Smoking Thread

What would be the best piece of meat for a weber?
Don't think there's a specific. My fav is lamb shoulder, pulled and then with tacos or a crispy roll vibe.

People on this thread have done a few different cuts in the Weber.

It depends on your preference. Beef short ribs, pork or lamb shoulder, brisket and then chicken are some of the options that I know have been smoked on a weber and turned out pretty well. I'm not sure if pork belly would count as smoking, but it's something I still want to try 😅

i have been following this very terrible thread, for a few years. Been looking at building one, this turned into maybe just buy a secondhand one of marketplace and ended up buying a new pellet grill.

Should have mine delivered next week. Unfortunately i am working for the next 3 weeks so hope to test it mid august.
Gives me plenty of time to assemble , learn how it works and prep for the day ;-)

To all the oke's that posted recipes and photos, dammit its your fault i bought one.

anyway exited to give it a run

A smart grill... I didn't even know that was a thing
sheez this thing is amazing. Lights itself runs off your phone. Hopper autofeeds to maintain set temp. Probe connected to the brain of the unit and it will maintain the temp you set. Can grill , smoke , braai , roast.

Connects with wifi to your phone and you can run it from church .

What it won't do is clean itself - don't forget to regularly take out the ash from the base, auger etc. Many reports of people destroying their pellet grills (fire) due to lack of cleaning.

Sweet - I've been looking at getting a Traegar but just blew my budget on a pizza oven. This Nexgril looks like a more affordable option though...

My cousin been using his for some time and he is extremely happy with it. His wife complaining she would also like a turn to cook some food. He calls it his smoking outside oven.

Had ribs and it is the best ribs i ever had. The reason i decided i have to get one

I'm sure this has been asked before in this thread (possibly by me) but what rubs are you guys using? Store bought or mixing your own? Have some ribs and a pork shoulder I want to tackle this weekend

EDIT: Some pictures of wings I did in July using the last of my Into the Woods Apple Pie Rub. That is one hour in on the Weber and then about an hour later sauced as well

I only recently got started with the smoking thing, so I use a store bought BBQ rub at this point.
