The Starfield thread

You can tweak the game and get some fps out of it by directly manipulating the values in the low, medium, high and ultra inis. However, you would need to firstly back them up and then **** around with them. Also the profile you do change, you also need to change away from it ingame and back so that the game reloads the changes. You can for example combine into high.ini the values of low, medium, high and ultra with custom tweaks to the ranges. This should help for more lower spec pcs or even more stable rates by for example trimming the distances or culling Illumination. Can now also finally remove **** like DOF.

I do have a small SSD just for windows. But it's not big enough for Starfield.

I bought a small SSD for Diablo IV - really wasn't expensive.

Good to know that the requirements on the box are accurate.

OS: Windows 10 version 22H2 (10.0.19045)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel Core i7-6800K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 125 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD Required
Helps to actually check, I didn't. I am running a Ryzen 1600AF which is very similar to the 2600X in performance. Since moving to the SSD the first tutorial mission ran fine. No idea of FPS though, what do you guys use to check this, used Fraps in the past. Does Nvidia have an overlay that can show this?

If you got it on steam, you can just use the steam overlay. If you're running an nVidia GPU, press ALT-R and it'll show.

Otherwise you can use the overlay in MSI Afterburner.

Nice. I feel like that's the main reason they always include completely useless, worthless junk in their games for players to pick up. To let players decorate places lol. And it's hours of fun

Also the reason my wife doesn't know yet that its a "Skyrim game".

I need some game time before she finds out.

Quick tip in case you didn't know. You can click a ship part to paint it (With J).

However, if you double click you can select the entire ship to paint it all at once. This has been a life-saver for me, though I think I've added 43 tons of extra paint layers to my ship :D

Speaking of paint jobs, I'm noticing a distinct lack of ship photos in here. I'll post one tonight, but let's see what you guys are running.

An open-world game based on Hoarders would be my GOTY :)

My wife looooves decorating crap. Over 500 hours in Sims 3 and have yet to actually "play the game"

Ok not that bad, but I know she spend loads of $$$ and time decorating, more than playing the game.

Edit: Sorry Sims 4, apartly there is a 4th one now.

Windows Gamebar will show current fps. Windows key +G
F12 to keep frame counter up.

Game is fantastic, and runs very well for me. Hype justified.

Some hints and tips for your next playthrough..... or your first if you haven't started as yet.

Actually imagine you go to Mars and there's an NPC there who needs help to clear out an abandoned old mine. You start the quest and he goes and puts on his armour and comes back as Doom guy and you go in and just start blasting a million bugs and Ashta and stuff
